I was reading how to post point rental and it said use the search function to see if you have enough posts in the right area.

I get so confused! I think I need 8 posts a month for 6 months before I can list but I don't know. What are the amounts needed?

How can I see if I have the right amount of posts using the search function?

i think the user cp (control panel) may show you but I am on my phone so I can't check

I checked for you. You have the required number of posts and distribution. You have 73 non Rent/Trade posts (50 required) and the distribution of those posts meets our requirement of at least 8 posts in at least 4 of the last 6 months.

Your current distribution is:

12/29-01/28 = 19 posts *
11/29-12/28 = 20 posts *
10/29-11/28 = 19 posts *
09/29-10/28 = 04 posts
08/29-09/28 = 10 posts *
07/29-08/28 = 01 post

* indicates the 4 months where you had 8 or more posts.

I know it can be a little confusing, bit our search function pulls up 6 months to the day, much like Member Services books DVC reservations starting 11 or 7 months from the day of check-in.

Ok, so it is not 8 posts but 8 posts per month for the past 6 months, with 4 of the 6 months having more than 8 posts per month in a non DVC area?

Is the search for 6 months something I can do on myself?

I am so sorry, I just get confused and yet I want to try to rent points...whew!

It is 8 posts or more in 4 of the last 6 months. You could actually have 2 of the last 6 months with no posts and still qualify for free use of the Rent/Trade board, as long as you also meet the 50 minimum post count. As I said, you do currently qualify for free posting on the Rent/Trade board.

Yes, it is something you can check yourself. Go to "Search" and click on "Advanced Search". Enter your user name in the field on the right side of the screen. Scroll down, and add info to the following fields:

Find posts from: using the drop down menu, select 6 months.
Show results as: Select the "posts" option and then press Search Now.

They are sorted by date, newest to oldest.

This will give you all of your posts in the last 6 months. Then we manually count them, looking at the dates of the posts and remember that posts to the Rent/Trade board don't count, even though they show on the screen. We also don't count posts that, in our opinion (which is admittedly subjective) were what I call "hit and run" posts to boost post count, things like "Thanks for the info" or "That's nice." Especially if there is a pattern of such posts, like making several of those type of posts within just a few minutes of each other. Posts that pretty obviously were just done to boost the count.

Sorry I could not help myself. Thank you for the great information and instructions. I have a better idea now how it works and will be able to check myself should I need to rent points next year.
