I have booked a cat 10 for 4 of us.. (2 adults, 16 yr and 8 yr old)..
Would it be beneficial to upgrade to a verandah??

It boils down to do you want to spend the extra cash for the veranda or not. We have done 2 cruises in the last 2 years and have gone with a veranda both times. We are 2 adults and 2 children under 5. For our next 2 cruises we have booked a cat 10, because fo the large (almost 1400.00 each cruise) $$$ savings. To us I would rather save the money and do them more often. The veranda is great and I would love to have it on our next cruises, but the extra money is just too much in my opinion. Good luck!!

My answer is about the same asthe4nitz.

Verandas are expensive given that you are most likely not going to use it very much (when ever I've priced it in the past, is seems that it was about $100 per day extra???).

However, having a private veranda is great. When you wake up in the morning, you can get out of bed and step outside and watch the sun rise without taking the time you get "ready" for the day the way most people would before going up on deck. It's also great to just step outside and enjoy the veranda, just watch the sea roll by just before you head to bed.

So basically, I've you've got the cash, do it. If you're tight on cash and you're more interested in doing things on-board and at ports than just relaxing on your veranda, then it's better to put your money towards doing the other things you like.

I also would stick with the category 10. There is plenty of room for the four of you and at their ages, the kids wont be in the room for regular naps so you wont be there alot during the day. I would rather apply the difference to the deposit for our next booking onboard. :)

After reviewing the post again, I'll have to take back a part of my answer because I'm not saying the SAME thing the4nitz's are saying. They say put the money to [better] use towards the other things.

What I'm trying to say is that the verandha is nice and for some people, the verandha WILL be one of the "other things" they prefer.

So I'll re-some up my post to say that...

If you like to spend your money "doing things", then you're likely to be happier spending your money to do those things. If you like to take a cruise to "relax", use the time away from home to not think about the world we've left behind during our time on board, then you're likely to be happy spending the money on the verandha.

Thank you all for your replies. Its our very first cruise so I think I will stick with the Cat 10 for this one and if we like cruising we will try the verandah next time.

I have a feeling we will be running around checking things out and not in our room alot.
