were actually planning on going on the British Isle cruise next year--

we like deck 7 since its between 2 floors of staterooms

this time those it seems were outpriced so we were thinking of deck 6

but a little concerned about being over the theatre

we like aft--easy to get to the cabanas and pool
I did read 2 room reports rooms 6626 and 6130 but the readings were mixed--some said 6626 was across from a service elevator and there was a lot of noise from carts and things others said there the room was very quite

then 6130 the report said it was worn and a tired room yet it was from 2006 I believe and didnt the magic go into drydock so Im sure that room has been spruced up

so Id like opinions/advice on rooms on deck 6 aft and also noise factor on rooms

(which are good rooms and which to avoid)

thanks all

In my opinion only, any room onboard a Disney ship is fine.

We have been on deck 6 for both our cruises on the Magic. The first was mid-ship, but the second was aft. It was room 6146, and had a whitewall verandah (not Navigator's verandah). Great location, it is near a stairwell/elevator but also far enough up the hall that noise is not an issue. Simply up a few flights of stairs to Cabanas and the drink station, and the ship is just small enough that it doesn't feel like a huge effort walking all the way forward for the bars, theatre, shops, etc.

The Magic has been in drydock twice in the last several years - in 2013 for its "re-imagining", and again in 2015. We cruised on it in late 2014 and late 2016, and both times the ship, and room, was in great shape.

OP back with update

it seems like I jumped the gun like I usually do when booking vacations since I had put in for a quote on 5-5 and was quoted 57xx for room 7104
yesterday the price jumped to $ 6007 for the same room and the rooms on deck 6 were going close to what I was quoted for deck7
deposit had to be in today 5-7 well I emailed DU at ask if there was anyway I could get an extension till Tue at the latest since i had to transfer money around for the deposit

heard back after I posted here and they gave an extension till Wed!! couldnt have worked out better!!

we can keep the room on deck 7 where we like

this is working out way to good !!!!!

thanks for the tips though--never know might need them for another cruise sometime

Hi! I'm glad you got to get the room you wanted! Here are my thoughts on Deck 6 if you ever end up considering it for a future cruise. I stayed in 6139 this past December and will actually stay in it again this coming December as well. We never noticed any problems or concerns with noise. However, during the day we were only in the room to drop things off or change clothes. The only substantial amount of time that we spent in the room was when we were sleeping. As far as the room being worn...I would say it was a little bit I guess, but nothing that I thought was distracting or disappointing. Like I said...we don't spend a lot of time in our stateroom so we didn't mind it. We liked that we were close to the Deck 4 because that is our favorite deck to spend time on when we're not on the pool deck. We also liked that we were close to the elevator/stairs and that so main dining places were right above/below us.

Have a great time on your next cruise!

We have been in Magic rooms 6520 (2 weeks, EBPC) and 6018 (18 nights, B2B Med/Trans) and no problems with either one. We found our deck 6 rooms to be centrally located between the food and entertainment venues and near little-used elevators. Only sounds we heard were not from theaters or eating areas, but from neighbors, which was minimal. With all there is to do on the ship, we spend little daylight time in our stateroom. At night we let the ship rock us to sleep, after a nip of wine. Love the nautical mouse!!

I was so glad to hear that room 6146 is in a good location. I just booked 6144 and was kind of concerned about it being so far back!

What's the difference between a white wall and navigators veranda? We are booked in 6140 for our September Cruise and all I know from my iTA is that it is an obstructed view, but the price was good!

A typical verandah rail has a clear plexiglass panel below the railing.

A white wall verandah is different on the different class ships. On the Magic class the panel beneath the railing is a solid metal panel. On the Dream class ships the lower 1/3 of the panel is solid, with plexiglass above it.

Navigator's verandah - again different on different class ships. Magic class - an enclosed verandah with a large open porthole and built in seating

Dream class - a "regular" verandah with an obstruction due to the superstructure of the ship (sometimes a large obstruction, sometimes small):

We had room 6133 in 2013 and loved it. We have only ever been on deck 6, 7, and 8 in our 5 DCL trips and only deviated from the Magic once for the Wonder. But I agree any ship aboard a Disney ship is magical.

We had room 6636 on our first Disney Cruise on the Magic back in 2011 and we have booked room 6136 on the Magic for our 2018 European cruise. We didn't have any problem with noise and we like the fact that it is just a few flight of stairs / short elevator ride to get to the drink station or Cabanas. We also liked having the Navigator's verandah, since we felt it gave us some semblance of privacy.
