Stateroom size question? Deluxe family Oceanview with Veranda vs Deluxe Oceanview with Veranda.

We will be booking a cruise on the Wish next year and I am trying to decide what type of stateroom to go with. We will be a party of 3 so I am sure we would be fine in the standard deluxe Oceanview stateroom size but I am trying to consider how much of a difference the additional space would make. The deluxe family Oceanview with veranda is an additional 41 (284 vs 243) square feet of space. How is this space allocated? Is it that the rooms are just longer or also wider? How much of the difference is in the veranda? For just Oceanview rooms without a veranda I noticed that the difference is just 19 sq ft (237 - 218) which makes me think part of the difference is the veranda. Are there any differences in amenities? Thanks.

The difference is that the deluxe family rooms have a Murphy bed by the veranda doors. Depending on the ages of your three people, that may be appealing. The main difference is the length of the room. Best we could tell they are all the same width except for the HA rooms, which were wider.

Book based on the sleeping configuration you need, not any illusion that a few extra square feet will make the place *comfortable.* If your third can comfortably sleep in a fold-down twin-ish bed, book the smaller room. Even with the bigger one, you're not going to do more than sleep, shower, and dress. One thing Disney ships do very well is ample storage. You should have plenty of drawers and closet space either way, with under-bed storage for your bags.

For the cabins that sleep 3 you will have a queen bed (sleeps 2) and then the couch folds down to a twin bed.

The family staterooms definitely are roomier. All DCL staterooms have a decent amount of space, though. Both verandah types have two bathrooms (one with shower, one with toilet, both with sinks), which makes things easier.

Except drawer space appears to be very, very limited on the Wish. Primary storage is closet shelves Rather than drawers.

Is this true that all Deluxe Family have the Murphy bed? We are booked Deluxe Family Veranda on the Wish and it said they slept 4-5. When I added a 5th certain rooms showed available and when I only had 4 other rooms were available. Since we are only booked for 4 I assume the room will not have the Murphy but it would be great if it does since my son will be squeezed into the sofa bed!

No, while square footage of the room is the same, some only sleep 3 some sleep 4 and some sleep 5. If there isn’t a Murphy bed there is most likely a chair in that space. I believe both the sofa and the Murphy are standard twin size.

Thanks! His feet will probably hang off the end but he can survive for 3 nights. 😂

We sailed with the family verandah room 4 years ago and the regular verandah room this time around. We had a pack&play set up the first time around, so we needed that extra length for it. In terms of livability though, I didn’t notice a difference. We made sure our girls knew to keep their half of the room tidy and put everything away in the drawers and cupboards (love packing cubes!) so that we could use it as living space on the very rare occasions we were in the room. Personally, with my girls the age they are now, I’d prefer that $ difference to go towards other experiences. If my older daughter outgrows the idea of an upper bunk, then we may Need to consider the bigger room in the future, but more for the Murphy bed than the extra space in and of itself.

We had a family Deluxe cabin on the Fantasy. We had a Murphy bed, but we didn't have the upper bunk bed. Who knows if it will be the same on the Wish.

Room tours indicate that the rooms with the Murphy bed also have additional storage attached to the bed (a cupboard with a door and shelves.) If you’re concerned about storage, it might make sense to make sure you get a room that sleeps 5.
