In the hopes of planning for my 7-night cruise next year, I was wondering how you all feel about Category 6 Staterooms VS. Category 7.

I stayed in Category 6 midship which was wonderful. I know Stateroom 5 and Stateroom 6 are about the same.

Categories 5 and 6 are exactly the same, except for the deck they are on. The rooms themselves and verandahs are identical.

I personally like the category 7's, because they're ususally about $300 cheaper than the 6's, $600 less than the category 5's. However, some don't like the obstructed view as much as they do the standard verandahs, which have a plexiglass railing that you can see through while sitting down. Since I like being on deck 7, I've gone with the category 7's for most of our cruises, since being in a 5 on our first trip.

There are 4 cabins which are now sold as category 7, but were initially cat. 6 or 5. They have slight obstructions, but nowhere near what the regular category 7's have. The room #'s are 7120, 7620, 6134, and 6634. If you book one of these, you're essentially getting a 5 or a 6 for the price of a 7. We're in 7120 for our next two cruises. Here's a link to a site which has some pictures of these.

I hope this made sense, there are a lot of 5's, 6's, and 7's in there....

I also 'Would like to ECHO the Thoughts of Lloyd..

We have stay in one of the 4 rooms he has mentioned and feel that if u can Get one Grab it .. and u will save $300.00
if u cant just go with the cat 7 , But You may ask for certian
staterooms at booking time.. if they have them they are yours

we have one of them on deck 7 for our next cruise...

Thanks for all the info. It's not really a cost factor for me since I am a DVC member, but the 5 and 6's DO eat up more DVC points. But I was concerend about the obstructed view in 7.

Here's my take: when we're usually using the verandah, it's dark outside, not a lot to see :) But we like to sit out there, hear the ocean, smell the salt air, etc. We like the cat 7 because we're partially protected from the elementes (wind, possible rain, etc.).

Any other thoughts??? And what about those rooms that were mentioned in one of the other threads? If you were prone to motion sickness - would those not be good rooms? And if we tried to get one of these rooms - could 2 people fit on the verandah?

Al this info has been so helpful so far....thanks!!!

the cat 7's also are a little more *private*...if you know what I mean....
we have 6134 for our cruise in July...aaaaaaaaah!
