After reading the stateroom report for our room (only a couple) I hadn't even thought about where our room was and the sound. We are aft on the Fantasy, deck 7. I figured with these state-of-the-art ships you wouldn't hear any engine noise, especially on deck 7. We have only cruised on DCL once before and we were mid ship on deck 2 of the Magic and it was great. Does anyone have reports of differences between forward and aft stateroom positions and any problems? Just curious. Thanks

Deck two would be worse. Closer to the sea, closer to the engines, the fantasy has a slight shudder in and out of port that's it. Deck 7 you will not hear any engine, it can't bypass decks1/2/3/4/5/6 and then the noise is there on 7.

The only issue is the kart minutes into port and the first few leaving port.

You will gave a great cruise do not worry.

Not a lot of help but was in a mid room on the Fantasy and noise of any type wasn't an issue (of course whenever I'm on a cruise I sleep like the dead).

Have a great cruise!

Our only experience was in an aft (deck 10) and mid ship (deck 9) room on the Fantasy, so can't compare forward to aft.

On our cruises, the Fantasy did have bad vibration while underway (usually when traveling at least 20 knots), and it showed up in Animator's Palate (saw several water glasses dance off the tables). As well as the bed in our room basically turned into a vibrating bed.

Didn't hear any engine noise, just had the vibration thing going.

Animators is lower down and closer to the sea and so the vibration is worse there, the same on all four ships. It's the trustees leaving dock that vibrate and not when underway.

When we were heading out of port that first night, we had dining at Animators Palate, and the rocking (and not being able to see out of a window) made me so nauseated. Can't imagine vibrating through dinner. I'm a very light sleeper, usually bring ear plugs just in case. Sounds like it should be ok, how often are you really in the room anyways is what we say.

We have stayed deck 7 aft. It was fine except for the vibration issue. It is weird to describe but we found it very annoying. This year we were deck 8 forward and had no problems.

Is that the vibration that happens during cruising? We've felt that on the Fantasy. And, yes, it's very annoying.

All the other ships, only vibration issues were minor (during docking).

Perhaps now that the propulsion unit on the Fantasy has been repaired the vibrations will be less intense.

We always stay mid or forward and never felt the vibrations except for in The Tube where we saw glasses about to slide off the table. They didn't (good reflexes) :)
Have a great cruise.

We stayed aft on Deck 7 on the Fantasy last year and there was a slight vibration. The squeaking and groaning of the walls was more annoying! I know that sounds weird, but the walls seemed to "move apart and back together" a lot and it caused a squeaking/groaning noise. Of course, we had high seas for a bit of that cruise. Did it bother us, nah, not really, it was just noticeable. The only reason i did not book aft this time is that I want to be closer to the adult only spaces and forward is a quick up the stairs to that. Aft was convenient to Cabanas, the main pool deck, and all the dining rooms.
