Stateroom moved?

Except Legionaire's Disease is spread through the air conditioning/ventilation system so it doesn't make any difference if a cabin is used or not. The air is always on.

the bacteria spreads through mist, such as from air-conditioning units for large buildings.

Not just HVAC systems. It can spread through things like showers, water jets of hot tubs, and other things. Such as "Unoccupied Floors or Rooms – Low occupancy decreases water flow, which can decrease disinfectant levels and increase the risk of Legionella growth."

Some CDC info about "Reopening Buildings After Prolonged Shutdown or Reduced Operation: Ensure the safety of your occupants and building water system and devices: Check for hazards including Legionella, mold, and lead and copper." https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/ehs/water/legionella/building-water-system.html and "Considerations for Hotel Owners and Managers: How to Prevent Legionnaires’ Disease" https://www.cdc.gov/legionella/wmp/hotel-owners-managers.html

Captain Kate McCue of the Celebrity Edge did a video during shutdown when they had minimal crew on board. It showed one of the daily tasks that had to be done and how they did it: they had to go to every single stateroom on board and run all the taps and showers for a minimum time and flush all the toilets. It all had to be documents. This was to prevent things like Legionella. As you can imagine, time consuming, but it was neat seeing the system they had worked out to do it. And yes, on some days, the Captain did the task work too.

We just got off a B2B in San Diego. DCL tried to move to the adjacent room on the second leg of the B2B. I get an email early on the morning of the second cruise. Luckily we were able to avoid the move. It would have been a real hassle to have to pack in between trips.

This happened to us this week. We are on the 8 Jan Fantasy cruise. Months ago I had purposely picked a non-connecting room as I too am noise sensitive. I received an email that we had been moved next door to a connecting room. I immediately called them, explained my issue, and was put on hold for 20 mins by the CM who went off to work the problem. She came back and said that she had checked with a supervisor and there was no availability for non-connecting rooms. The supervisor was on the line so I was passed to her for further explanation. She said that ALL non-connecting rooms had been taken offline for “covid reasons”, that they were not being sold, and that they had tried to find me something comparable. I asked to be moved back if those rooms become available. I’m still not especially happy about it and will be upset if they assign someone else to our old stateroom.

Was it back to a non-connecting room?

Nope, to a connecting room.
I did stop by the other two rooms and knocked on the doors to see if anyone was there :) No one was there. I also noted, on the first day, that the rooms that were occupied had magnets that mentioned that they had been cleaned. The one that I was originally in and the one that I had been moved to did not have any stickers on them.
