Just got ours today in NC and just curious:

We calculated ours went up approx. 5% ?!?!?

I'm sure this has been addressed on the Boards already but I was just wondering if anyone else was suprised by the large increase.

This is only our second year owning (HH and VWL) and at the time of purchase, our guide told us dues had never gone above a 2% increase yearly and she said if they ever went higher, members would be in an uproar so not to worry. Has there been any uproar???

Marley, there was some discussion about it a while back. I believe the contractual cap on the yearly dues increase is 12 or 13%, so a lot of folks didn't really get upset about the increase. Dh and I weren't thrilled to see our statement today; it's another $120 a year for us, money that we of course would prefer to use in other ways.

You can probably find the threads that talked about the dues increase. 5% was actually less than some of the others. This year did see the highest increases in quite some time. They had been running pretty stable (up and down year to year) for about the last 5 years. What really bumped the dues up for DVC were increased insurance costs for both the resort itself and medical insurance costs for the staff. Not much they could do about the increased premiums. There was also an increase in security costs at the resorts and there is a decrease in the interest coming in from investments. All are areas out of DVC's control. Hopefully, we won't continue to have such large increases in the future.

The maxium cap is 15%.

Got ours in Memphis. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Just 10 more a month!!! I can just not eat out one time and have that extra. Yeah, another year I can afford.

Got mine yesterday. For my 250 BWV points, the increase was only $2.24 per month. $81.24 to $83.48. The .10 per point tax credit helped.

We received our statement for BCV, HH, and VB yesterday. We have our dues taken our of our checking account monthly for the payments. According to this, our payments will now be $18.11 less than last year! Does this make any sense?

Is it possible that since we bought BCV and VB part-way through the year, we were paying dues pro-rated from the beginning of 2002 and with less months to pay till the end of the year, our 2002 dues were a higher payment?
