Ok in Washington we have a test called the WASL(Washington Assement of Student Learning) its absolute torture and you have to take it every year beggining in 3rd Grade. Its really dumb and all and were taking it this week and next week its a 2 week long test and all you do in school weeks straight is test. In 10th grade when you take it you have to pass or you dont graduate. So what dumb test does your state have to make your life misserable everyone says its so stupid and all even the teachers except for our science teacher which that subject and math are the only subject we dont have to pass and the other day got all mad at me for talking about how we dont have to pass it so why even take it if colleges dont care about it

Hmmm... in Jersey we get a bunch of different tests, starting in third grade.
They kinda taper off after the GEPA's in eighth grade, though, then you only need to do testing again as a junior.

Honestly, they never bugged me.
I kinda enjoy them :]

I live in New Jersey, and we have to take the NJASK8 (formerly GEPA) the week of April 28th, which is the week after my spring break, which is the week after this week.

Llama (sorry, don't know you're real name!) don't worry about the GEPA's.. or whatever the new long name is.
The teachers make a huge deal about it, but it's really crazy easy.
And it doesn't effect anything you do in highschool.
Again, that's just the teachers being crazy about it.

In Massachusetts we have MCAS. I don't mind them. They get you out of like 3 periods and are super easy. Plus, you can like wear sweats and pajamas and stuff without caring really. Haha.

Here in Florida we have the FCAT. It's like so easy it's hilarious. And to think, some kids actually fail it. I'm sorry, but if you fail FCAT, you're either just plain stupid or your teacher is awful.

Here in Texas we take TAKS.
Texas Assessment of Knowlege and Skills.
It's mega easy, for me at least.

GOOD GOLLY U ARE STINKIN RIGHT!!! i mean when i took it i got a higher grade on that test than i did on anyother test that year... saddd

We have FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assesment Test). It's wicked longggggg. Then we have to do NRT's(norm reference test)

It's Andrew :)
And yeah my teachers have been going nuts. I think it affects their careers more than our future careers.

we take MCA's which is
Minnesota
Comprehension
Assesments

they are kind of easy and stupid.

SOL's.

Standard of learning (or something like that xD)

They are most awful, you have to take them for every subject every year. Well I mean some years you get off, like in 5th grade we didnt have to do a history one.

50 problems each, and sometimes we have to write an essay based on a 600 point system. (I think..)

I hate them, because thats ALL the teachers EVER talk about "Oh well on the SOL's you will..." blah blah blah!

Hahaha...I'm so glad I'm done those!

I had them all through elementary school and some in highschool (HSPA to graduate). That's it. I'm done! Finito! :woohoo:

We have provincial assessments.
We have on in grade 3 for math, another in like grade 5 for math, one in grade 7 for English, one in grade 8 for math and in grade 9 there's a reading test and a writing test.

I hate them, mostly because the younger years, they're not important. They're just tests to tell the province how well we're being taught, how well the school and teachers rank. So it's not important, we never see our grade and it doesn't matter. We can tank it if we want to.

But when we get to grade 9, we have to take the ELPA. English Language Proficiency Assessment. And it's bloody evil. You HAVE to take it in order to graduate in NB. And you have to PASS it too. If you don't, you have to take Learning Strategies the first semester of grade 10, and you rewrite it. The problem with this is, yes you get a credit, but it is not a required course, so you lose an entire semester of a course you'll later need to graduate.
And the Reading Profiency Assessment is hard. It's multiple choice, but there's at least two answers that could be it, and they sound the same. It's kind of like RTFQ in the military (read the bleeping question), if you don't take every word into the right context, then it could be the difference between a pass and a fail.

And the biggest problem with all of this, is in the younger grades you don't care at all how you do on them. And then all of a sudden. BAM IT MATTERS.

PSSAs.
They can be challenging at times but I always score proficient in math and reading.
If you fail in the 8th grade, you can't go on the high school.
They're adding science and social studies to the test this year and next. OH JOY!

Here in Ohio, we have Ohio Profinicey Tests(can't spell it) inelementry school through 6th grade. Then in 7th and 8th grade, we take OAT(Ohio Achievement Tests). Then 9th grade Practice OGT's(Practice Ohio Graduation Tests) then in 10th grade we take OGT's(Ohio Graduation Tests).

here we have the PSSAs. pennsylvania state system of assesment, i think!

they take a week and are really boring. i always score really good on them, but some people do really bad and i feel for them. they are important though. like if your school doesnt pass them then your school doesnt get enough money frrom the state. we only take them i k-5, 8th and 11th. if you dont pass the 11th grade one, then you dont get to graduate. at least, i think that tey are starting that rule soon.

anyways.......yeah we have them and they ARE BORING

We have the TAKS (as someone already posted)
They're extremely easy. I'm actually helping tutor people for the math one.
I'm a junior and I have to take all of them this year (science, math, history & english - but we already did english a month or so ago). If I don't pass them this year I have to take them again next year and that would be bad because they're so EASY. I doubt I'll fail though since I'm helping tutor people :rotfl:
Seniors don't have to take them... I'm looking forward to that next year :thumbsup2

Tenessee has TCAP ( Tenessee Comprehension Assesement Program) heh since they made the no child left behind program..the tests are super easy.
