Can someone tell me what the current state tax is in Florida.

If you mean the sales tax, then I think the basic amount is 6%. However I think that the different counties can apply additional rates. So the tax rate can vary between counties.

If you are asking about the sales tax, which is added onto purchases, including restaurant checks and hotel rooms, it is 6%.

The resort taxes are different, depending on which county. Disney property is in both Osceola county and in Orange county, which have different resort taxes. I believe that Osceola county resort taxes are higher than Orange. The resort taxes are in addition to sales taxes.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the resort taxes.

The current sales tax rate is 7.25 percent. When you come to Florida, please spend a lot of money....it is people visiting our state paying our sales taxes that allow us not to have a state income tax also. Speaking of taxes, with gas prices going out of site, I hope our state law makers will pass a tax reduction on gas like they have done in the pass to support the tourist industry.

yes there are resort taxes that are added to your room each day and they are shockingly high (some guests aren't prepared for the additional amount they have to pay)..
i can't remember what the percentage is, but it's significant (higher than the sales tax). For some reason 10% is rolling around in my head, but i reallly can't remember how much it is, just that it's a lot and people should be prepared that the room rate quoted is before the resort tax is added.

The last time I looked at resort tax,for Lake Buena Vista, it was 13% which actually stopped us booking direct with the hotel!

Could that be a county thing jeffn? Here in Broward County, we are paying 6%. http://www.myflorida.com/dor/taxes/dr2x.html

It is a county thing. When we last in WDW they had increased from 6% to 6.5%
