So, Florida does not have state income tax. My mother expressed concern that since my stay in FL is temporary, that I may have to pay income taxes to my home state since I did not pay them in FL.

Does anyone know how tax filing works for temporary/home state income taxes?

I'm not sure how it is for your state, but that was true for me in the year I did the CP. I ended up owing a couple hundred dollars to my state for the money I made in FL...I was bit annoyed to say the least.

That sucks. Well, at least I know ahead of time. I'll just have to make sure I keep enough in savings to cover it.

If you get a driver's license/state id while you are in FL, you won't have to pay state inc tax. This is not a big deal, unless you have a car. If you have a car, it will be cheaper to just pay the state tax.
