Visting in-laws in Lock Haven for Thanksgiving and I am trying to decide on which way to go for Black Friday shopping - State College or Lycoming.

I can't find a list (if one even exists) of big stores that surround the Nittany Mall.

Can someone lend me a hand on what big stores are up at State College?

Also, which do you think would be better?

Thanks!

I don't know what it in Lycoming, but in State College, the big box stores around the Nittany Mall are:
- Barnes and Noble
- across the parking lot is a discount card and wrapping paper store
- Bed Bath and Beyond
- Walmart
- JoAnn's Fabric
- Office Depot

that is considered Benner Pike (I believe)

on the other side of town, there is:
- Target
- Dick's Sporting Goods
- Wegman's
- Michael's
- pet store
- Lowe's
- Kohl's (I think it is open?)
- Best Buy
- Staples

I personally love State College, so I would go there, do the big box stuff and then head downtown for some enjoyable strolling and a good lunch. Easy day to find parking downtown since all the students are gone.

Pretty sure the Nittany Mall has more stores than the Lycoming mall. There is pretty much every box store in existence in State College. I think there's a Target near the Lycoming Mall, and a Best Buy, but I don't remember them having the quantity of big box stores that State College does.

Does State College have an Old Navy?

nope. Looks like you have to go to the Lycoming Mall - or to Dubois or Altoona.

If I go out, it will be Altoona. Too many stores to go in any other direction for me.

I don't know much about Lycoming, but there are lots of stores in State College to choose from. As for Old Navy, well, they always have sales. Unless they're putting something out that you want more than anything else, I'd never recommend going anywhere just because they have one (though Altoona does).

Altoona and Dubois is out for me. Considering where my in-laws live. It takes me literally 15 minutes to just come down off of the mountain!
