Has anyone tried the Instant rewards at the Swan or Dolphin?

Well, you can go to www.spg.com and check, but I don't think the deal is anywhere near that good. The upgrade for 1000 points is if you have already purchased a room. If you are SPG Gold, I'm not sure what, if anything, the 1000 point upgrade gets you that your Gold membership doesn't already provide.

The $60 rate was if a hotel participates in the SPG Cash & Points rewards program. However, I don't think the Swan and Dolphin participate right now. When they did, it was 4000 points, plus $60, a night. The hotels in the program change every once in a while, so maybe they will participate again in the future.

I got my AAA Preferred Plus SPG card, and despite my requested upgrade, I was given a Dolphin room that I didn't like. It was renovated, but was over the loading dock and we had a lot of truck noise at night. (Plus a really unpleasant view of the dumpsters!) I complained about the noise and was given 10,000 Starpoints, which is enough for one free night. This seemed reasonable to me.

By the way, there was a survey to fill out in the room. I filled it out, and was given 500 Starpoints as a thank-you.

Does anyone know how many points it takes to upgrade to concierge or club level at the Swan? I'm considering buying points to surprise my DH on our anniversary in April.

It is either 1000 or 1500 points per night. It seems to vary depending on the CM you get!
