Starwood Guest program - upgrade if CAA member?

Was reading the sticky about Swan & Dolphin 2008 rates, and saw that if you're a Starwood Preferred Guest member (the company that runs the Swan & Dolphin), if you call and mention you're a AAA/CAA member they will upgrade your Starwood membership to the Gold level which provides you with an automatic upgrade.

Has anyone here tried to do this with a CAA membership? I can't find links on the CAA website saying that this can be done.
