Starting your trip a couple days before a code kicks in

If you are taking advantage of a general public discount (for example, the one that starts on August 9th of this year)...can you start your package a couple of days early and just pay rack rate for those nights before the code starts...or is it considered two different packages? I know the website won't even let you choose a check-in day before the 9th.

BTW, we are not planning a trip for this August, but we are for next August. My hope is that there will be a similar discount offered next year (as there has been the past few Augusts).

If you are checking in early then it will be two packages. For my upcoming Dec trip I got a 40% off PIN. It didn't start until the 13th of Dec, but unfortunately we arrive on the 12th. I had to book one night at rack rate and no tickets then booked the next seven nights under the PIN with tickets and dining. I got two different confirmation numbers. You also have to make two deposits. It works the same way for the general public discounts.
