As promised at the Annual Meeting, Disney is adding more television channels to their in-room network today, January 13, 2012 - according to a letter delivered to our villa.

Some of the new channels include Fox News, Bravo, AMC, National Geographic, TBS, TNT, Travel Channel, WE tv, Syfy, Discovery, HGTV, TLC, History, Food Network and TV Land.

This afternoon there will be a 15 minute cable outage to set up the new channels and then the additions will go live.

That is great. I honestly thought it would take much longer to get this to happen. Esp. since the roll-out of the TIW is taking so long.

Just checked in to OKW today, and saw the letter. But, so far, at 3pm, no changes.
I'm sure someone will post live as soon as it's active.

That's great! We take trips of around 9 to 11 days so there is plenty of time spent in the villas watching TV. Nice to have more options to fall asleep to!!!

DH can't do parks much anymore, so this is good news. I do wish that Disney would provide a channel list in the rooms like many other hotels do. I keep a paper in one of my Owners Lockers that lists the channel names and numbers. Guess I need to update it before we leave next Tuesday.

Wow ..... about time! The new channels are all the same ones we watch at home, so we couldn't be more thrilled. I do however, agree with PP about putting a channel listing in each room. That is a constant source of frustration for us.

We are here now and TV service is sporadic this afternoon. Hopefully things will be completely finished soon. It will be really nice to have more choices.

We got no letter in our BWV room today and we see no new channels yet. I just hope that TV isn't messed up for the NFL playoffs this weekend or DH will have a heart attack.

Good to hear. We noticed this past summer when we stayed at AKL and we did not go to the parks, that the tv service was pretty lame....I just read the list to my sons and they said Hurray!!!

Does this included HHI and VB?

We will be at HHI for the first time in August!:)

I just came back from HHI :cloud9: and, while I don't know what all the channels were, there was much more variety than in WDW. I *think* it was the basic DirecTV line-up.

Have fun!

Well, this was supposed to happen early afternoon on Friday. As of Saturday morning, nothing has changed yet. (This is at OKW).

Please tell me they still have soapnet?

When we were at HHI the first week of January, we were able to watch Syfy -- they were running the Serenity movie from the Firefly series -- definite Nathan Filion fan here and feel Fox blew it by cancelling the series. Sorry Off - Topic!!

YAY I hope this is working by Friday the 20th. My dh will be soooooooo happy. That was his complaint this past week when we were there...not enough good channels. He loves his Fox news too. :thumbsup2

This will be resort wide right?
