Help! The dates for our trip changed from February (for which I had all of our dining planned) to October! We are very excited, but I am having a difficult time getting the reservations.

Here is what we had reservations for that I am not able to duplicate.
  • Crystal Palace - early entrance breakfast
  • Tusker House - early entrance breakfast
  • Chef Mickey's - dinner
  • Le Cellier - dinner

What do you suggest to take their place?

Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's are completely unavailable. :sad1: We can eat at the Crystal Palace and Tusker House, but it is later in the morning without early entry. Is it still work eating there and taking time away from the parks especially when the lines are shorter in the morning? I will keep checking and hope that I get lucky, but I would really appreciate any suggestions.
TIA

What days will you be there? I may have 1 or 2 of these that I'll be cancelling, but it's the end of October.

What we normally like to do if we can not get the earliest breakfast is to get a later one. We will just grab a snack in the room before we leave, breakfast bar or a piece of fruit, and then head to the parks. We do our top 3 rides and check the time if we have more time we do another ride or 2. Then we take a later morning break for breakfast. We did a 10am breakfast at CP last year and we were able to ride atleast 6 rides before breakfast and that was on CHristmas eve!

Crystal Palace is definitely a must so I booked a later breakfast like suggested.

Is Tusker House worth the later breakfast time or should we skip it and do a different place for lunch/dinner at Animal Kingdom?

What would you replace Chef Mickey's or Le Cellier with? Any suggestions?

Hi, Just to let you know that we really enjoyed breakfast at the Rainsforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom. You cannot use your dinning plan to pay and it is not in the park, but it has its own entrance to the park.

The Rainforest Cafe is nice, but we have one of them where we live so it isn't very special to my kiddos. Also, I am hoping to use our dining plan. Is there any other restaurant that you would say would be better than Tusker House or should I just get a later reservation?

My comments are in pink :)
Have a wonderful trip!

  • Crystal Palace - early entrance breakfast Do the later breakfast. We did this in June and it was awesome.
  • Tusker House - early entrance breakfast Try for a 7:30 breakfast at Boma. I did last December and I was out and over at AK by rope drop
  • Chef Mickey's - dinner I'd see about going non character here with dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe or Kona Cafe. Both are great places and are somewhat easier to get reservations
  • Le Cellier - dinner Have you ever been to Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club? It's fairly easier to get reservations for and a great place for a good steak.

I would replace Le Cellier with Via Napoli. I know it is not a steakhouse but my neighbors have dined there and loved it (and they are quite exacting) and have also read generally positive reviews. It is also in Epcot so if you had plans for that park it would work. We just got a last minute dinner reservation for Oct. so I think you may find those available. Also don't keep trying, I recently added some choice reservations for Oct. and just canceled the secondary choices that I had made before those were available. People cancel all the time so it pays to check as frequently as possible.

  • Crystal Palace - early entrance breakfast - Replace with Kona or Ohana breakfast
  • Tusker House - early entrance breakfast - Replace with Boma breakfast or Tusker House lunch
  • Chef Mickey's - dinner - Replace with CP dinner
  • Le Cellier - dinner - Replace with Cape May Cafe or Tutto Italia

What do you suggest to take their place?

TIA

I hope that helps!

We'll be "home" for October too :woohoo:
If it was my choice, I would probably replace Le Cellier with the Biergarten.
Biergarten also has the same pretzel rolls you get at Le Cellier,
good German food that has been somewhat Americanized.
Lots of choices for salads, entrees, sides, desserts on the buffet-
there is something for everyone. :goodvibes
Also, the show is very entertaining, interactive, and kids love it :thumbsup2

we have also enjoyed Teppan Edo- the chefs like to put on a show for the kids.
Also we love Akershus (princess dining) for the food and the interaction.

Regarding Chef Mickey's, I have never gone there as the food reviews scared me off :scared1:
Are you trying to replace it with another character meal or another meal in the MK area resorts?

If you don't care about characters, Kona cafe at the Poly has good food.

Have a wonderful trip!

We have tried breakfast at Ohana and 1900 Park Fare too and Tusker house was the one we prefered for the caracters and the food, so I say it would still be good to make a later reservation. When we went in June, we had one for 9.30. We got at the entrance of the park before 8.30 for ropedrop, asked if we could go early and they let us in.

You might be surprised. Even if your reservation is for later on and the restaurant is still slow they may let you in early. So I would say that if you are a rope drop type of familly and that if you usually arrive early at the parks it might be worth to give it a shot.

Ok, here is what we have...

I was able to get a later breakfast time at Crystal Palace and will hit some of the must-do attractions before a late breakfast.

We decided to skip Tusker House and try Boma for breakfast. It looks like a great way to start a day at Animal Kingdom and we got an early reservation.

Although I am going to continue to try to get a reservation at Le Cellier, I know the probability is pretty slim so we got a time for dinner at Via Napoli.

As far as trying to replace Chef Mickey's, I think we are going to try 1900 Park Fare. It seems like it will be a pretty good meal. The only disappointment is that the characters seem to be a bit more "girl" friendly. I am not sure my boys (9 & 12) will really care for that, but the time works out so we can hopefully walk out and watch the MK fireworks from the beach.

Thanks so much for everyone's help.

DH and I met friends at Boma for breakfast, last April. We were seated about 7:40 and after a GREAT breakfast and plenty of conversation, we had no trouble getting over to AK as it was opening.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I suggest trying every day, as much as you can in one day...things open up all the time.

If you are stuck on character meals why not try Cape May breakfast? It is very good and the characters are so cute. I would try all the character meals and check all times available, do not be stuck on having an early entrance. Sometimes it is cool to get in at opening and do some park stuff and then go have breakfast at 10:30 to cool off and recharge your batteries.

If you want a nice steak and want to stay in a 1TS why not try Grand Floridian Cafe? DH loved his NY strip there or you can try a signature restaurant where the filets are melt in your mouth amazing! Do you want to stay in the countries at Epcot? How about the new Italian place Via Napoli or maybe Beirgarten for some music and dancing?
