I booked a stay at POP Century with 7 day hoppers/magic plus... With news of a hurricane already hitting florida i'm starting to get really worried about our trip being a wash out. We have our minds set on going to the water parks and enjoying time in the pools.

Anyone else getting a little anxious about an august trip? Or maybe I should just think about the fun we'll have.

Just think of all the fun you will have, WDW is very equiped to handle any weather issues if they come up.

No one can guarantee that this year wont be another historic year in terms of hurricanes for Florida, but the odds of Central Florida getting hit really hard in any one week, are really minor.

Have a great trip, and remember a bad day at Disney is always better then a good day at home.

Don't let this one storm bother you. The truth about hurricane season is that no one knows how bad it is going to be. I've grown up in Florida and they predict a bad hurricane season every year . Of course sooner or later they are going to be right.

Don't worry about a tropical storm or hurricane ruining your vacation. The chances of that happening are really small. This storm coming through right now isn't even affecting WDW. Don't worry about it, you will have fun. :earsboy:

You know, in our case, ignorance was bliss.

We got married in September, planned our honeymoon to WDW, and never gave hurricane season a second thought. Have had three straight trips with only one minor snafu...we left one day early last year. Currently, we are planning a trip mid-September, and can't wait...hurricane or not.

So don't fret...keep a positive attitude, and I'm sure you'll have a great vacation. I learned right away to pack a poncho and learn to love afternoon showers. :teeth:

Hi we went 03-17 september 2003 had a great time there was storms before we went and after but we just concentrated on having a good time and boy we did it was sad that hurricane isabelle hit a few days after we came home

I been at WDW when a hurricane was a few days out, we had no problems,
Just a few clouds, so don't worry.

It's so far out who knows what will happen. I know we're going in mid-August. I've given alittle thought to it, but I'm not worried. We'll go w/ the flow. If we have to postpone--we postpone. Otherwise, I'm planning away and not worrying about it.

There are sooooo many things to be nervous about - please don't let a a vacation trip to Florida be one of them. Go & have a good time - we're going the last week of August - and I am not worried, scared, nervous, upset, etc. We used to live in Clearwater near the beach and NEVER had a really bad storm hit for over 10 years. The odds are in our favor - so have a blast. Don't get yourself all worked up over this - it really isn't worth it.

Don't worry be happy - right?? :wave2:

:cheer2: I have a friend who stayed at AKL last August. She was there to experience one of the many hurricaines that came through last summer. She said WDW was wonderful. The day the storm was expected WDW was closed to everyone except those staying at one of the WDW resorts. They were able to go to a park in the morning with out using one of their days off their park hopper pass. At about 1pm (when it started clouding over) they were instructed to go back to their resorts. They where given boxed sandwiches and told to go to their rooms, bring in any patio furniture, close drapes and stay in your rooms. Most of the CM's were then sent home to be with their families. At one point her DH went out to get ice and was told to say in the room. With all the glass in the lobbies and entry ways they were concerned about injury. At about 9pm the winds started howling, they never lost electricity. The storm moves through quickly and by the morning it was back to the Florida sunshine. Some downed trees, but, parks were open and they went on to enjoy the rest of their vacation.
DH & I are going down in 34 days with DS(15) baseball team. So we are prepared for anything.
:hourglass 34 days till we go home to OKW
