Starting to panic...don't have flight yet.

Well flying out of Toledo was a bit more than expected, so that is out.

However my DH just found a flight from Spirit that fits pretty good. Was $215 per person, including taxes and fees. So we booked it. Yay!! (and not, I hate spending that money...lol)

The departure time is 1/2 hour earlier than I wanted and the return flight is about an hour later than I wanted but hey, I am not gonna be that picky. :rotfl:
Not to mention it is on a Airbus 320, so the seats are like first class, nice and comfy! YAY...for that. The more comfortable I am flying the better, I hate flying.

So I thank everyone for their input, I really appreciate it. The flight drama is closed now...whew...one step closer to vacation.

Get there a little earlier and stay a little longer! Have a great trip and Merry Christmas!:santa:

I'm not super familar with Spirit's planes, but every flight out of Detroit with them has not been a big comfy seat. Just to warn you. (not sure what kind of planes we flew though either) We could barely get our knees in behind the seats. I would say they were the most cramped seats we have ever been in.
Also now Spirit has a fee for carryons as well as checked luggage, so unless there price is really great, which it may be since I haven't checked lately, we avoid them pretty much now. Plus the fact that my DH hates driving to Detroit. We have looked at Columbus though too, since we live near Toledo and it's not that far, but stil lfar enough. But so far for us SW out of Columbus, nonstop beats Detroit. We have family in Columbus though, so we can go the night before and spend the night with them. We have nothing set yet though either.

Looking at seatguru, you are correct. The pitch is only 28" (except for the first row), which is the closest I've ever seen, most airlines are 31-32. Also no recline.

Well thanks for setting me straight....:scared1:

Guess we won't be comfortable on our flight. It seems DH mixed up the pitch and the width of the seats....
So we will have little seats and NO leg room. OMG I think I may throw up!! :rotfl2:

To late now, they are booked and not refundable. (sigh), I like my extra couple inches of seat and well at 6'3 DH's legs will be folded up underneath him. LOL

What a way to start out a vacation......I pray we lift off early and fly quickly it will be a long 2 and 1/2 hours.

(can someone say National Lampoon's....) popcorn::

I didn't mean to scare you, but I do want you to be prepared. It's not a long flight, and my experience was pretty decent, but t is cramped. Luckily neither of of us are super tall though either.
I need to start looking up flights again. DH gave the "yes" yesterday to be able to go this year, most likely in March! YAY!

I think Spirit has some of the most cramped seating but the price is right! I would pick the best price I could find but I wouldn't drive over an hr or so to the airport if I could help it.

LOL! We have no choice to drive that far. We are very close to Toledo airport, but the yonly fly to Orlando a few times a week and the times really are crappy. But DH likes it's closeness. But you HAVE to rent a car then. It takes over an hour to get to any other airport from where we live though. I think there are alot of people that really have no choice. We do look at prices too and weight it all out. Sadly I don't think Detroit offers very many nonstop otpions either.

Please be careful here... they only send you a check if the tickets drop in price AND someone else books the same flight THROUGH ORBITZ! So the tickets could drop $150pp, but if passengers book through the airline, priceline, travelocity, or anything other than Orbitz, you're still SOL.

very true - I did notice that. But...the chance of getting some money back is better than no chance at all when I book through expedia/travelocity, etc. If everything else is equal, I will likely go with orbitz. If prices are higher on orbitz than elsewhere, then I'll probably choose elsewhere, kwim?

I still find it a nice perk and am looking forward to trying it out in the future.
