Since we made our DVC purchase in 2008, we have made 5 DVC trips so far.

Our daughter just turned three.

Last week, we booked a trip on a whim using our AP discount for a studio at AKV for this past Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday checking out yesterday. We drove down to Orlando Sunday (we live in GA) and stayed at a La Quinta (Universal drive -- very nice by the way) Sunday night so we could head over to DW early Monday morning and enjoy WDW.

So we make it to Orlando, and pull up at the La Qunita. When DD says "Mommy, this is not our hotel. This is a REGULAR hotel."

Ahhhhh, a Disney Princess already.

Too cute! :goodvibes

When DD was 4, we stayed at OKW (2BR) for 5 nights, then moved to AKL for 2 nights. This was before DVC @ AKL, so it was just a regular room. We booked a savannah view room and we were so excited to see the kids' reaction when we got to the room. DD looked around, kind of confused, and said, "Is this it? There's no kitchen or living room."

I too have 2 princesses (DD5 & DD8). DD5 has been around 8 x & DD8 has around 15 trips under her belt....I crack up every time I hear someone talk about going Disney & talk about going & my girls as what RESORT they are staying at....it's NEVER hotel! They never say let's go back to the room either...it's the RESORT...

I have 2 boys...5 and 9 and whenever we stay in a regular hotel I always get..."but Mom, this isn't our home." Gotta love disney

Too cute!! My 4 yr old DS explained the transportation options depending on which resort you stay at to my DH and I today. He did this while telling us he REALLY wants to stay at BCV and that "you can just walk to Epcot to go there or for the fireworks". My DH turned to me and said - it's amazing that a 4 yr old can understand how it all works better than most adults :) Little ones just say the cutest things!!!

Love it! My adult kids are struggling with their individual vacations. I told them they would have to lower their standards quite a bit. They've been VERY spoiled! Have fun in those "No-Tell Motels", kids! :thumbsup2

DD and I have both been memebers since 2004. We have taken Dneice and her 5 year old twins a couple time's. They so far have stayed at BLT, SSR, Kidani, BWV. They also have a trip this December to Kidani and BLT(their fav's) Last December they celebrated their 5th birthday at disney. Last year when they stayed at BWV on NYE's so they could enjoy the Boardwalk festivities they said they did not want to stay there anymore because it was a dump:scared1:. Their mom embarrassed said it was because upon checkin the whirlpool tub in the room did not work and they had to take a regular bath:rotfl::rotfl:. They are really the sweetest girls and always give hugs and thank you's for their visit's to Disney so we all had a good laugh over this.

This is great!

My DD is the same and she is now 13...:rotfl: Whenever we travel to anyplace other than WDW she says that the hotel rooms are too small :lmao: She is also quie the expert on finding everything at any of the parks....she will be very spoiled when it comes to taking vacations on her own! :rotfl2:

Wow!! It's not only our Kids??? DH and I were dying a few weeks ago when our adult kids were lamenting over the cost of going on vacation.

OP here:

I will have to admit, that for our Sunday night stay, I considered, considered spending that night at one of Disney's value hotels. Our AP discount made the room only $90 for the night. We've never stayed at a value (before DVC we were moderate people)....so I was doing my research on the DIS and online about what a particular value was like, when I read that the values DID NOT provide pool towels....now since I've never stayed at a value, I don't know if this was true, but it was enought to say "Well one night at the La Quinta for $53 isn't too bad."

And guess what? The La Qunita provided pool towels. Granted you had to ask at the front desk, but we still were provided with pool towels rather than using towels from our room.

Yes, I am a DVC snob now...pool towels make the difference.

Too cute!

My girls keep commenting how much they miss Disney and are always asking "when is our next trip?". It is nice to know that because we own DVC we can afford a trip every year and I believe they are maturing into Disney connoisseurs! :thumbsup2

Yes, DS(13) was 4 when I bought into DVC, he refers to it as "our" time share. Gosh, he'll probably never know my family's early Disney days! (1975, before Disney hotels, packing a lunch, heading to Disney at 7am and driving home at night (10pm), worn out and beat up)

I wish my parents were here to see it all!

Oh no! I didn't even think about that! We just bought in October 2009 and have only been on one DVC trip so far so we're not quite there yet but I'm sure it's coming!!! We bought two separate contracts so we can gift one to her for her wedding present. The girl will apparently forever be spoiled! princess:

:lmao:

I can imagine... we're starting our indoctrination quite early as well.
She's about a little over a year now and she's been on DCL, and 1br WDW. Before this I've only stayed in a 1br once in the whole 10 years of membership.
Now with DD she would probably be spoiled with a 1br most of the times.
Before she turns 2 she would have been to 2 DCL cruises, 2 WDW trips, Tokyo DL/DS, and Disneyland CA (and that's just disney related trips ;) ).

How do you like that? And she probably won't remember ANYTHING from it... :rotfl:

That is why we have been strategic when taking family and their kids. We don't have enough points to take them every year and they could not afford to go even if we did so we try to wait until they are 5 before their first trip. I know those memories will fade too but they should not fade completely, at least I hope not.

My DD, 4 will be going on her 7th trip in October. She is spoiled too. Her first trip when she was 1 was at AKL and GF so we set the bar high from the start. Then we went with friends right before she turned 2, Pre-DVC, and they wanted to stay at ASMo so we did. DS, 17 at the time, had stayed at all the values and mod's and just 3 deluxes so it wasn't a shock for him. But DD even at 2 kept pointing to GF and telling our friends that was her resort. We went on our first DVC tour that trip and a few months later bought in then added at BLT. Now we only stay in 1 bdrm's and DD would probably go into shock if I tried to put her in a studio. She likes sleeping in the big king bed and having her chocolate milk in the fridge.
