It's the second year in a row and it feels great!! It took a few years to get to this point, but I will never let it happen again.

Congratulations! Budget is our number one resolution. Working on a spreadsheet right now cause no other goals get worked on til cc is paid off!

[you need a budget software] to set goals for the next year!
It's great purposely spending giving and saving.

:thumbsup2

Congrats! I'm also starting 2013 with no CC debt and I paid no CC interest in 2012. Like you it's taken a LONG time to get to this point.

We've always tried to keep credit cards payed off. If we use them, when the bill comes, we pay off the entire balance right away.
I had to use our card a few time for a few online Christmas gifts, but the bill was payed weeks before Christmas.
Same thing goes for vacations, if they are used, the balance is paid off entirely BEFORE we even go.
Our main idea is to use cash, or our debit card. We have 1 credit card only that we use, we earn reward points as well with it. Extra bonus:)
Having no credit card debt, always, It is a good feeling!!

Congrats OP & Everyone Else - I agree -- it's so freeing to not owe a bill @ the end of the month for stuff already done, gone or used! This is our 2nd year starting out the year that we have not carrier debt... If I have used a credit card, I do so for some sort of benefit... security, bonus points, etc.. and then after I give it a few days to show up on the account, I go online and pay it off.. It's so nice to see my credit card statements each month say ending balance $0.00 :) There's activity, but always, ends in ZERO.

now, if we can just keep chipping away @ that mortgage :) Can't wait for THAT statement to say ZERO

Same here, I now use the card and pay it right off. Everything for vacation and saved for ahead of time.

Happy New Year!

My debit card really helped with keeping my spending in check. Also I love, love LOVE my credit union savings account. It tucks money away for you and you don't even miss it. But when you want or need a treat or to pay a bigger bill its there for you.

Our credit cards are clear too.

Of course, we do have a mortgage, a car loan, and orthodontist payments. And we're looking at doing a renovation on our 60 year old kitchen.

But it's so nice not to have the additional credit card debt.

Yes, that will be a really nice feeling! We did refinance our home, and lake cabin a couple years ago from the traditional 30 year, to 15 year. Our monthly payment is more, but in the long run we are saving thousands.

congrats :)............... we were debt free most of our 25 years of marriage...till i became ill 2 years ago......and now our credit cards are sadly run up................. so one suggestion is to build up your savings if u already havent............... if i had the yr to 2 yr income saved and NOT tied up our money in in retirement and prepaying our mortgage my family wouldnt be in the situation we are in.................. just a word of advice everyone build up your savings while u are working and can............. once AGAIN congrats......i hope to be where u are some day.....might not be for 5 plus years but where this is a will there is a way
