Starting High School Tomorrow!

well that sucks.i dont start til like sept. 10th..thank god.well i go back right after i get back from DISNEY!! well about the advice thing i wouldnt know because i didnt start yet..lol! :thumbsup2

This actually reminds me of a book I had for Summer Reading. It was called'Sleeping Freshman Never Lie'.Good Luck and I can't wait for my first day.

Just look nice, do your homework, and DON'T GET LOST!!!! I cannot stress this enough! lol But honestly High School is not that scary once you get usd to it, Just have fun and be yourself and you should be fine. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

breathe, i would second doing your homework.. that is the best way to keep your grades up, go to your first homecoming ( its the best ) don't let boys distract you (lol) a downside about high school is you change friends alot, you find out who your true friends are fast... good luck..

I would highlight all of this advice.

Except for me it would be "don't let girls distract you".

Good luck! I have no real good advice because I start High School too! (Only I don't start until september lol)

Goodluck! :thumbsup2 just stay calm and don't worry ;)

Just breathe. ;) So many freshman forget to do that.
so true. so so true.

I go back to school today too.

Do you know where your classes are?

Know where your classes are before you go!!!!!!! (Unless your school is like my ******** school and doesn't give you your schedule until day 1...ignore my venting...just kinda annoyed) I second the homecoming thing. Go to all the events and football games, etc. Great way to hang with friends or meet new ones.

DON'T STRESS! Just because you're in a new school doesn't mean that it's a big deal, you still have your friends and the good ones will be there for ya too.

When it comes to clubs, don't do 5 thousand thinking it will look good. Colleges (I know, 'I'm just a freshman! It's still 4 years away!' but still, a good thing to be thinking about ;)) don't want to see a bunch of clubs that you came to 5 meetings of ever. Do thing you like (obviously) but things that you are good at. Example: If you're an English nerd, like I happen to be, find a newspaper, magazine, or yearbook. Do thing that actually apply.

Now that I have officially turned into a guidence office's pamphlet (and before I start saying 'get involved')...one last thing...PLEASE don't reinvent yourself. I hate the people that think they need to reinvent themselves for high school. Don't become emo or goth or super preppy just because you can! I beg you.

p.s. ~ Homework doing is a must...it's pretty simple how it works (well, it is here)...you don't do the homework, you fail.

High School is amazing!! Last year on my first day of High School got off to a shaky start because my bus driver just decided not to pick me and my neighbor up. We stood outside for an hour, and then my dad drove us to school. Once I got to school I walked into my English class, late, and everyone stared at me, and normally i would've of been bright red and embaressed but i just smiled and was like HI!!! But HS is nothing to be afraid of it's so much fun, cause like you'll meet so many new people and you'll be able to join so many fun clubs and stuff.

don't be too nervous about starting high school. I was, and when I got there, I realized there wasn't that much to be nervous about. I was most nervous about getting lost, but now that I've been there a year, I know where everything is!!! I agree that you should go to homecoming, I had a great time and got to hang out with friends all night! :cool1: Good luck on your first day and have a great school year!! :thumbsup2

dont be nervous about starting high school because freshman year is always the most boring year. .my freshman year was boring. .dont be afraid of the upper classmen there not going to shove you into a locker or beat you up or anything. the upper classmen dont even notice you. .be sure to do your homework and study for tests because tests in high school are hard. .and always remember just breathe, relax, and have fun, because your only a freshman in high school once. .

Good luck just rember, to be calm, and confident and thing should be fine
Highschool goes by so fast so good luck and have a great freshman year :thumbsup2 :teeth: ;)

psht i never do my homework and i still get a 3.0 GPA...well i sometimes do it in other classes most of the time the class before the homework is due...a lot of teachers are careless and there are sometimes points in class that you dont do anything...im going into 11th this year and im prolly not going to do much homework this year either, although take notes or just get them from a friend or something...as long as you have them its all goood.. :) well i lied there are sometimes when i do homework at like midnight or something

Uh well that maybe be true about teachers being careless, however I would still do your homework.

I too am entering 9th grade, so I am also nevous. My plan is too do my homework, meet new friends, get along with everyone, make a good impression on my new teachers, make my self invisible to upper grades, and to maybe join a club or two.
