but the price changing to regular price during your stay - will they charge you the govt rate the whole stay?

I'm confused.

Are you saying that you start out at the Govt. rate, but then it changes over to regular rate?

I'm not sure how they determine when the teacher/nurse/government rate is available. We stayed at the Dolphin for five nights this summer. We had the teacher's rate for the first and the last nights, but not the middle three nights.

Hi - I don't know if it helps but last Christmas we were lucky enough to get a $99. teacher rate that was printed in the newspaper in error. Dolphin honored the rate for some of the days but unlike the Disney hotels that charge your whole stay at whatever rate you pay on your first day, Dolphin will change your rate when the offer expires. We still only paid $119 or $129 plus tax for the rest of our stay. I asked the front desk about it and they explained that their policy differs from Disney hotels in this regard. Government rate is fantastic for such a fabulous resort!!!! We had a wonderful vacation. You will too!! :D

I believe you mean the Govt. Rate is available during the first half of your stay. I have a friend whom reserved the Nurses rate this past summer, then decided to add some days. Unfortunately, the Nurses rate was not available for the dates she needed. She had to pay a higher rate for the additional days.

These discounted rates are similar to airfare discounts. Only so many rooms are available at the Special promo rate. If the rooms are reserved during a certain time you wish to stay, you will have to pay the higher rate.

Although, sometimes I have check-in under a "special" promotional rate (for a mid-week stay), intending to pay the higher rate on the weekend--only to be pleasantly surprised with the same discounted rate carried for the entire stay. Miracles do happen...but they are not something to count on. ;)

Perhaps you could use AAA or Entertainment rate for the days not covered by govt. rate? Every little bit helps.
