I don't know how many of you might be interested in this, but as soon as we move I am starting a good size herb and veggie garden at the new house since we'll finally have some land to do it.

I didn't want to spend a ton of money on it, and I didn't want a bunch of genetically altered seeds so I had been researching heirloom seeds, and I found this small little family owned business that has bent over backwards to help me with information and advice on getting started, and I wanted to put in a little plug for them if any of you are wanting to start your own garden. They have tons of fruit and vegetable seeds, plus alot of herbs if you are needing a container garden.

best of all is that they offer free shipping on orders over 50.00, and their seed prices are cheaper than Walmart on most everything, and you get alot more seeds in the packets than you do at walmart. Some packets have up to 200 seeds in them. Also you can earn rebates for future purchases on your orders, so you can get more seeds later for an even better price. I already got 4 packets of seeds for free.

I placed an order a few weeks back and they arrived about 3 days later, packed in sealed envelopes that will store for more than a couple of seasons if you arent quite ready to plant them yet.

My garden is already going. :) We have 4 tomato plants, 1 is already giving fruit the other 3 are flowering, strawberries, cucumbers, bell peppers, zuchini, squash, carrots (multi colored, I can't wait to eat a purple carrot! lol) and sugar snap peas. :)
But this is great and I'll definitely hang onto the site for future seed needs. :) Thanks!!

I went ahead and ordered - had been looking for a good place and you're right - they were great and answered questions and called me and everything. they had my order ready to ship within a short time and the service was really just fantastic.

thanks for posting this.

I've ordered from these guys in the past - didn't know they had a rewards program now. That's awesome.

Yeah, their customer service has always been top notch. Thanks for posting this and reminding me. I need to get me some seeds.

Cheers!

TJ

yeah, the owner and I have traded lots of emails. I won't order from anywhere else if I can get it from him. It's so hard to find places that are really interested in making sure their customers are happy, so when I find them I like to send business their way.:goodvibes

What did you order? I just added another order and got free tomatoes, and got black eyed peas and echinacea, and used my free points to get 2 kinds of pumpkin seeds.

I ordered the beginner seed group for about $35 and then the herb seed group for $15, got my free tomatoes and free shipping. i'm just starting and needed a good base before i can really figure out how to choose seeds!

Right now I am in the time frame of disaster can happen or pure success. It's that "we're too big for our seed starters - but yet not big enough to get outside"
This is where I tend to lose some of my plants. Any tips. What do you do to get them from Seed Starter tray to garden- do you transplant? Or do you just go straight into the earth?

Wow thank you I just wish that I would have heard of them sooner! I went to home depot to start our first garden (we bought the house in December) and some of the seeds are not coming up- they have been planted since about middle of March:scared1:. Home depot says that some of them are old and NOT guaranteed:eek: So needless to say about $75 later I need to buy somewhere reliable.... okay rant over- Thank you for the sites name!

I go straight into the ground unless I am planning on growing in a container. I've never started any seeds in starter pots with the exception of bulbs that I've forced grown indoors. The more you transplant it, the more shock it will encounter, and young plants cannot handle alot of it.

My advice if you are using starter pots is to use soil in them that is from the area in the ground you will be moving them to eventually to help minimize shock.
