OK, maybe I'm missing something, but I think folks are nuts. I went over to HS last week in the afternoon. As expected, all the FP for TSM were gone, and there was a 115 minute wait time (crazy!). There were people in line for the Animation class, about 3 classes worth. Then, I walked over to the brand new Star Tours, and rode it three times in about half an hour, and it was amazing!

Why aren't people flocking to Star Tours? Not that I minded the walk on nature of this amazingly fun ride, and I got three different scenarios, but seriously, why aren't more people riding it?

While I agree with you....there are reasons.

Anyone can ride TSM (even babies), but there is a height restriction for Star Tours that keeps some families away. And while babies can't do the animation class, just about anyone that can hold a pencil can.

Also, believe it or not, the majority of people (not DISers, of course) do not know Star Tours has had a refurb and may bypass it as a "been there, done that."

It is a simulation ride that some people do not like or can't ride for various reasons whereas TSM and animation is something for EVERYONE.

This :thumbsup2 and believe it or not there are some of us that are not Star Wars fans (just dont' tell my husband or kids, I grin and bear it for them).

Also from my own estimates, capacity of the new star tours is in the range of 2000 people per hours while TSM is more in the 900-1000 people per hour. Add to that the facts stated by PPs and you get a pretty good pictures as to why Star Tours is less crowded than TSM

There are lots and lots of popular rides that generally don't have much of a line. As PP's have stated, it has more to do with the type of ride and how accessible it is (for instance no height restriction) and the load capacities.

Did you ever notice how short the queue is for ST's as well? I was there on the day it re-opened for soft previews and they had both sides filled all the way outside the building. I think they had 2 pods running on both sides (but at times they had to shut one down as it was a soft preview and there were glitches). We waited about 20 min tops to get on the ride.
