Add tips to this thread. It's for everyone. Especially in the battle ground states where so much new registration has taken place and voter turnout is expected to be enormous, here are some tips.

Check with your board of elections regarding your proper
voting location NOW if you have not voted in a while.
Vote early
Take ID
Expect to be in a long line, stay in line.
If you need help, ask for it and don't give up.
Volunteer to take others to the polls
Go prepared on all the issues and contests, take a list.
Stay positive!
Remind 5 people to vote.
pass along this information to anyone who might need it.

Sorry, I don't have any tips to add except for Oregon voters that your ballot should be in the mail. I just finished filling out mine and will drop it in the ballot box next week. I'm so glad all of Oregon's elections are "vote by mail". Now if I could just be exempted from all campaign ads, political "door-to-door" people, etc.

Check the hours your polling place is open.. I know that here in NY, they are open from 6 AM to 9 PM, so maybe get up a little earlier and vote BEFORE you go to work.

I don't have any tips beyond what's been posted - I'm just really excited because we have early voting here so I get to vote NEXT WEEK!

Well, I guess that IS a tip. Look into whether your area has early voting. Here's it's called "no excuses" cause you've got plenty of opportunity. Polls will be open (in my community's public library) in the afternoons for the next 2 weeks BEFORE election day - so I don't think I'll have to stand in a long line. Whoo Hoo!

Good tips, everyone.

I'll be reminding all of my students to vote that morning in class- that's way more than 5!!!

I'll also be voting early- we luckily have a location right on campus.

I have another tip-

Vote for stability and safety.
Not for change according to what the polls say or change could occur daily.

I am unfamilar with the voting by mail you seem to do on the coastal states. How do they ensure that you don't vote often? How long has it been going on? I have voted in Kansas and Missouri and neither state has polls open before election day. We do have mail in as far as absentee goes...

I'm glad you balanced that out, Microcell. Stability and safety is right. As Bush said, how can Kerry take over and succeed in a war that was," the wrong war at the wrong time"? Who's going to get on board with him?

The wrong change at the wrong time.

AWWWW-we were doing sooo well. I knew this thread
would get political but it was not my wish. I just want
everyone to get to vote! I think it's going to be hard in
some places, especially for newly registereds. I want this
election to be stable and official. I want whatever the
outcome to be as a result of the biggest turnout. People
HAVE to know that it is desirable to vote. Disenfranchisement
can not happen this election. Please, do whatever you can
to get out the vote!!!!
