Are there any others here who go to the Food & Wine Festival just to see the band "Starship" perform in EPCOT? My family has been 3 years in a row to see the band and next week will make our 4th year. Maybe we will bump into some other DVC folks during this trip September 30-October 5.

What days/nights are they performing? We will be there 9/28 thru 10/3....hopefully we will catch a show! :goodvibes

I've seen them like the last 3 or 4 festivals.I'm going to see if I can make it there next week.

RLRDA-Starship will be performing Wednesday October 1 through Saturday October 4. You will definitely have the chance to see them if you choose. They perform 3 sets a day with the 1st set beginning at 5:15.

Thanks, we will definitely check them out. We plan on hanging out at EPCOT on 10/2 (maybe more).

RLRDA-I see that you guys are staying at BWV this trip. My family will be at BCV. I was able to book a studio at BCV during the 7 month window. I'm feeling pretty lucky since that's during the Food & Wine Festival! We won't be doing EPCOT on Thursday October 2 due to MNSSHP, maybe we will bump into you guys a different day! How long have you been DVC members?

I called at the beginning of April (about a week into the 7 month window) to get the BWV 1BR and thought I got lucky, too. I waitlisted for a BW view but it never came through :sad1: . We'll be going to MNSSHP on Tues 9/30. I'm hoping for low-ish crowds during our trip - we haven't been in Sept/Oct in 3 years and it was nice back then but things change. We've been members since 2004...this is our 4th DVC trip with our next one planned for August 2009 (too far away!)

To answer the question in your original post....we don't go to F & W to see a particular band. Starship is a band I'd like to see, a few years ago we saw the Commodores and they were fun to watch.

RLRDA-I'm thinking that the crowds will be very light until the weekend. We went this time a couple of years ago and did MNSSHP on the 1st Thursday of October. At 10:30pm, I'll bet there were only a few thousand people in the park, it was great! We have been DVC members since July 2007 and typically visit every 2 months. Our daughter is 18 months old and this upcoming trip will make her 9th visit. We own at SSR but have never stayed there. We prefer the resorts located at the parks such as VWL, BWV, BCV, and soon BLT. We stayed at OKW when booking the Food & Wine Festival last year because we booked at the 2 month window and nothing else was available. We actually loved OKW and will stay there again. We are doing MNSSHP twice this trip, Thursday and Saturday. I'm thinking Thursday will be light crowds but Saturday will be jam packed. Can't wait! :cool1:

Do you drive to WDW? With the cost of flights (for 5 people!) we go once a year although this will be our third trip in a 14 month period. We own at SSR and have stayed there, it's has a relaxing feel I'm guessing a similar vibe to OKW- the only resort we haven't tried is OKW. We also did an add-on at AKV and we love it there, too.

Chic,

We are going next yr (2009) for Food and Wine Fest and are trying to make up our minds which week in Oct to go. We will book at the 11 month window, so how would we know which week Starship will be performing?

Last yr we were there, did our Party for the Senses and it happened to be the weekend that Starship was performing, they put on an EXCELLENT show! We fully intended to leave early to head over to PftS but the show was too good to leave!

I would love to plan our week when Starship would be performing if there is a way to know at our 11 month window.

RLRDA-We do not drive to Florida because we live in North Carolina. Southwest airlines has a nonstop flight out of here which takes an hour in the air, can't beat it! I'm currently only having to pay airfare for two which typically costs about $150 a person roundtrip.

SCDizneyDawn-The quickest way to find the Food and Wine Festival performance dates for Starship is at their website which is www.mickeythomas.com I can go ahead and let you know the dates usually post only about 7 to 8 months out so you won't know before the 11 month window. Over the past few years, they have always performed Wednesday-Saturday during one of the first 2 weeks of October. Last year, they also performed during the Flower and Garden Festival in the middle of April. Our first encounter with the band was similar to yours. We were walking through EPCOT during a heavy rainstorm and just happened to hear the band performing while passing through the America section. We decided to stop in and hear just a song or two but they were so good, we stood in the pouring rain for the entire set. We also returned to hear every set afterwards. Because of that one experience, we have made it a tradition to return each year just to see them play. We are super excited to be staying at BCV this trip so we can easily walk into the International Gateway entrance to see the band without the hassle of slow bus service or the monorails.

Nice :thumbsup2 We do the non-stop from Providence which is about 2 1/2 hours and can usually book it for $180-$200 per person x 5 :scared1: Maybe we should leave the kids at home - they're weighing us down!

We definitely loved the short walk from BCV when we were there in May. BWV seems like it would be slightly longer (last time at BWV we took the water launches). WS is one of my favorites. I'm glad we'll be there for F & W :drinking1 and some music :rockband:
