what is this like and is this on the savannah in the park.

Small group tour, they give you night vision scope for observation of animals and taking pictures. Takes place at the resort. CM is very knowledgeable of all animals on the resort savanna and of animals at Animal Kingdom Park. Was a great adventure for the kids.

You get up pretty close to the animals in open safari truck. CM warned us that we would be within tail swishing range. Definitely were, it was a great time.

This is a brief (maybe 2 hour?, I forget exactly how long) tour of the savannah at the AKL after dark. You ride in the back of a jeep and are loaned night vision equipment. You speak with the CM throughout and she gives lots of great info about the animals there during the tour. She will spend time answering all your questions. You get lots of opportunities to see the animals at night. It starts and ends at Kidani Village, we met next to Sanaa. At the end you are each given a keepsake pin ( very nice). I think that there were eight in our group, IIRC.

WE enjoyed the tour. (Senior couple)

Do these tours fill up fast or can you book while there,

We did the Wanyama Safari earlier this year, which is also at AKL and kind of the same experience (just in the daylight and there is a meal). The CMs on our evening were incredible and this was by far one of the highlights of the trip.

I feel kind of dumb admitting this, but before doing the safari (and staying at AKL), I didn’t really realize that the AKL resort and AK theme park savannas are totally separate and not connected in any way. Different animals, different operations. So no, the AKL Starlight Safari is only at AKL, not the theme park.

Do you Tip your Guide ?

I did the Wanyama Safari (the one with dinner) twice and the evening safari twice, and it never dawned on me to try to tip the Guide. I don't know if this is a position which is supposed to/allowed to take tips.
