Starbucks VIA Instant Coffee

Has anyone tried the Starbucks Via Instant Coffee? I hate the Nescrape , so I'm thinking of trying this, but it's kinda pricey. However, I might just go for it since anything is better than the stuff at the resorts.

They sell 3 packs for you to try.

I like the decaf. It's Italian Roast. I use all 8 oz of water, but a hair short of all the coffee. I drink it black, so it cannot taste like water.

But I recommend trying a couple different flavors (easy with caffeinated). Then, if you need it, buy the box of 12 or 15 or whatever it is.

We take them with us on our trips all the time.

I took part in Starbuck's taste test were they brewed regular coffee and had the instant coffee side by side. I was not able to tell the difference.

I would buy a box and try them before your trip. They are expensive; but, if you are desperate for a cup of coffee, then it calls for desperate measures.

I was thinking of using these as well. Does anyone know if you can get hot water in the resort food courts? Is it free? (we aren't planning on buying the refillable mugs). TIA.

My sister who usually hates coffee loves this stuff. So I think that is definately worth the price.

I think it's great! I'll be bringing it on out trip. I've even added it to a bottle of water (16 oz) I only added one pack but you could add two if you wanted. We were somewhere where there was no electricity or running water so it was not a cold bottle but it worked great. I bet it would work in a cold bottle too - ice coffee! They do make some for ice coffee but I just use the originals since I still have some left. Happy coffee drinking!

I just tried the iced coffee version of the Starbucks VIA this morning, and it's pretty tasty. It's got a little bit of sweetener added into it, so it's more like the iced coffee that you get at the stores. I'm taking the rest with me to WDW when we leave on Friday. You get 5 packets to a box for about $5.95, I believe.

I LOVE Via. Not so much the sweetened iced coffee. Italian Roast is so good. I made some brownies with the Via. Oh my, the best! I took some for the Baristas to try they handed me 20+ sample packets to make more.

I'm not normally a instant coffee type person, or really drip coffee kind of person (working at a coffee shop turns you into a coffee snob wether you want to or not haha), but the via is the best instant coffee out there. I'm sure if you go to your local Starbucks they will have some samples you can try before you buy. Also if you look at the prices of it, they come out to the price of a cup of cheap coffee if not less, so having the option of using it whenever you want and in your room it comes out to worth it.

Now for the hot water I'm not sure what resort you're staying in but it should have a coffee pot. Just fill the maker with water and run it through a brew cycle without water to make it hot. Then you will be able to use the hot water in your mug to make the VIA. It will be plenty hot enough to use. Thats what I do when i make hot tea at the resort, its normally much faster than using a kettle and easier to handle than the microwave.

I usually won't do instant. I'm a strong, black coffee girl and Disney's is awful. VIA is a good and easy substitute. IMO

It is the only instant I will drink. Much better than Disney coffee.

( I liked the iced version a little less, but it helped to add a little milk to it. )

I agree. That stuff they serve is not fit for human consumption! VIA was great for us last week!

Values do not have coffee pots in the rooms and I have read on the boards that there are microwaves and hot water available in the food courts.
Tried VIA for the first time yesterday. Kroger was giving out samples and it was pretty good. I will take some for our WDW trip next month.

I consider myself an avid coffee drinker and what they serve in WDW is complete crap! I have had VIA and its pretty good for instant. I suggest using bottled water when making the VIA

Ok I tried it and the verdict is..........

YUMMY!!!

If you like the McD's iced coffee you must try VIA mixed with milk.

I'll probably have to pick up some Via before our trip. As for the hot water, don't the hot chocolate machines located in the food courts (we're staying at Pop) have just hot water nozzles? I can't remember.
