...and they accept Starbucks GCs! :cool1:

According to this review on wdwmagic.com, you will be able to use your SB GCs as well as accrue SB Rewards Stars from your purchase. You just won't be able to redeem any rewards at that location.

There are a lot of times that Starbucks offers bonus $ wyb GCs and I usually take advantage of those. Plus, several rewards programs offer SB GCs as rewards, which translates to free food at Disney! All your GCs can be combined into one using your online account and they have a smartphone app so that you don't even need to carry a GC with you!

I know that purists aren't crazy about a Starbucks being in the middle of Main Street USA, but I'm kind of excited about the gift cards. :)

ETA: According to wdwmagic.com, you can also use dining plan snack credits for all SB drinks. :thumbsup2

Bolding is mine----I hope so!! I would love to use a snack credit for a nice, strong cup of coffee or a frap!!!

I am super excited too. I have always said that Disney needs a Starbucks for us moms!

I always said disney needed some good coffee. I'm not a fan of the starbucks.

I'm not a purist it's just when I'm on vacation I like things that are special.
The article says that they are selling starbucks coffee, starbucks pastery (ooh yuck) and starbucks breakfast sandwich. I saw the pictures and it looks ridiculously similar to 4 starbucks with 5 miles of my house.

So for me, I feel like it's just like going into my local target starbucks. Nothing special or very disney-esq.

The cm are even trained to serve and take orders like starbucks.

So why call it Main street bakery? why not just call it Starbucks.

I'm like that whenever I go on vacation. When I go to Europe, no I am not eating at Mcdonalds or chick-filet. when I go on vacation, nope I don't want to eat at Olive gardens. these places are run of the mill, no big whoo. That's how I feel about starbucks. it's in every Target, every other block in Philly.

In all probability it will be one more place that I no longer go to at the world but the good thing about it, I'll save money.
We use to drop a ton on end of night cookies and brownies. won't be doing that to get the same thing I can bring from target at home.

It looks as if they will still be selling some Disney pastries. But you're right in your observation that it looks like every other SB store without the tables and free wi-fi. But unlike you, I kind of like to know that I can walk in there and get a cup of coffee that I know will be as good as what I can get at home. The Nescafe was nasty and I actually like SB's brews. When it comes to the pastries -meh! I don't go to SB for the food. I go for the coffee. If I want pastry, I'll head over to the Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot.

I'm just surprised that they are accepting SB GCs. That means free frappuccinos for me, just like the Landry's restaurants represent free lunch. I can earn their GCs through my rewards programs and use them at Disney. I don't buy the dining plan, so this is another way for me to cut food expenses a little.

There's a few other threads around.

They accept gift cards but don't redeem rewards.

Mix of SB pastries and MSB supposedly with MSB items more prevalent after 11:00

They also have a Disney grab and go with boiled eggs, fresh fruit, bottled soda/water/juice.

The Cinnamon rolls are being offered at Gastons. However if you haven't been lately..just before moving over to Gaston's they changed the icing on the rolls to a 'maple' frosting instead of the white which is what is available now.

Ice Cream sandwiches will be next door at the ice cream shop.

All the basic drinks on the menu so far have been equal to a snack credit. Even the Trento size. No one has said yet if adding shots or syrups will change that. But basic coffee/refreshers/lattes etc are a snack credit.

Their oop prices are less than the QS necafe coffees and lattes.

I was in there yesterday and I used a Starbucks gift card. (These can also be purchased at Target for 5% off with the Red Card.)

My daughter used dining plan snack credit for her grande chai tea frappuccino.

We didn't buy or eat any pastries or sandwiches, but both were available. I didn't see any cinnamon rolls.

For what it's worth, they changed the cinnamon rolls a few years back and the Bakery wasn't selling me the ones I loved anyway. Same with the little loaf of banana bread.

Magic Kingdom was packed but the Starbucks was not packed. It was busy, but not packed.

I peeked in on my way to do some rides this morning and again, not packed.

There is something missing - the 'eye appeal' of the old glass display cases. Now it is more solid 'counter' with people behind it and the display cases are at the center, sort of perpendicular to the counters. For me, it didn't make me 'need to buy' a pastry, something I always did before.

I'm a Starbucks lover and I'm happy to have the beverages and coffee. The bakery part did not need changing.

I also did not smell the bakery 'smell' this morning.

Gag. Hate Starbucks. And in the middle of Main Street...blasphemous. Just wrong.
