Starbucks at the World

I never ever thought we would be having a discussion on coffee here on the DIS. Refreshing!

I am a recent Starbucks lover. I have always really like the taste of coffee (I don't drink it for the caffeine because it has the opposite effect on me).

I can only drink Tim's when it's drowned in sugar and cream as a Triple Triple. I've never liked the taste. McDonald's is my favourite by far. Their coffee just makes me smile after the first gulp.

For me, Starbucks has more "body". And I love the atmosphere of the cafes. The free wifi was also great for when I was a student.

I think what I really love is how Disney is going to theme their Starbucks according to their location. And that they're selling the food too because I love their banana loaf and espresso brownies :)

My hubby will be thrilled to heard this. He's a coffee fiend (he'd have it the Euro way if he could. Just a long espresso - the darker the better) and we've always brought our own (he insists on grinding his own beans if not near a decent coffee supplier) or gone to the D&S to get *bux if we were staying at the Boardwalk area.

Starbucks is also a much more ethical company, which I'm happy to see the switch to. We vote with our dollars. I'm happy to be seeing Disney do the same.

We are a Timmies family. DH is the coffee drinker...it's Tea only for me.

I told DH about Starbucks opening up at WDW...he could care less. I asked him if he actually liked the Nescrappe that they serve down there and he said that after a few days he gets used to it.

I think part of the problem down there is the water. I always bring my tea from home and i have a travel kettle. I've used tap water and bottled water....my tea always tastes different when I make it there.

Where is there a Krispy Kreme in North Dakota now? I thought it closed ages ago?

I must admit I am THRILLED to death they finally have a Starbucks coming to WDW. I used to cab it over to the Factory Outlet mall once during my visit to get my latte fix. I am not a coffee drinker persay (I only do the fancy expresso drinks), and cannot stand the ones they make on property other than the Mocha at Ghiradellis. My dh is also happy he doesn't have to stomach the Nescafe stuff anymore. He also brought the Via so he would have something half decent.

Oops! Didn't mean to start a Tims v. Starbucks debate (which has been quite civil - so kudos to the posters :thumbsup2). It's funny how passionate Canadians can get about coffee.

This has always been an issue for us - finding good coffee in the U.S. outside of specialty shop. We were actually happy to see Krispy Kreme down in North Dakota as we could finally have a coffee that didn't taste like steeped tree bark. Isn't it funny that Fargo, North Dakota got a Starbucks before Disney World? :confused3

I am not so much a coffee snob as someone who knows what they like and it was always a bit of a search to find a good cup in the parks. There are a few spots that serve up good brewed coffee (Artist's Point, Writer's Stop, Kona Cafe, Kouzzina to name a few), but definitely few and far between. We usually take a french press pot and some ground coffee with us to avoid the new coffee machine taste we always ran into at the Disney resorts. Being able to score a coffee I like in the park will be a huge bonus for me. :cool1:

Oops again! I should have mentioned that the Fargo Krispy Kreme has passed on :sad1: and is now a matress store or cabinets or something. I just mentioned it as (to my mind) the introduction of a reasonable cup of coffee in Fargo. Starbucks now holds that role, though I think all the Starbucks are in the hotel strip area on 13th Avenue. It is almost like they are only there for us Canucks :confused3.

Does anyone know when Starbucks will actually open at WDW, or has it already?

One of my favourite blogs is the walt disney world food blog. They have not posted anything about the world. California just opened.

I'd still rather have a Timmie's. :worship: An Ice Capp on a hot florida day would be THE absolute best! :thumbsup2

I'm not a regular coffee drinker - but I totally agree, an Ice Capp on a hot day in the parks would be AMAZING!! :goodvibes
