Star Wars-Where to Start?

With Disney's purchase of Star Wars and rumors of an entire land in Hollywood Studios, I've decided that I want to start learning more about SW to see if I would like it. The only problem is I don't know where to start! There's so many episodes and movies from so many different years that I have no idea what to watch first. What would you suggest?

I would just watch the movies. And watch them in the order they were released, so start with the old ones (Episodes 4,5,6) then watch the more recent ones (Episodes 1,2,3)

I'm doing the same thing! Most SW fans would cringe at this, but I've actually been watching the movies in chronological order... so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, when they were released 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3... oops :sad2: But it's kind of easier to understand this way in my opinion!

I've read how the order of 451236 is the best because you can get the full effect of certain plot twists, have an extended flashback and then end on the proper in-universe chronological note (and not as sour an end as chronological release order).

I'd post the link if I could remember it, they explained it better than I could.

HEY! I just found this post and it made me insanely happy because,
1.) You want to find more out about Star Wars
2.) My love for Star Wars and Disney are in constant competition
3.) I just like groups of threes :rotfl:
I suggest watching them in chronological order! I feel like that was the way the creator of Star Wars wants them to be watched! I also feel like if people watch them 4-6 then 1-3, they would get really overwhelmed and quite confused! I know it definitely took me a while to get everything straight! I really hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!! :thumbsup2
P.S. Keep an eye out for Hayden Christensen (A.K.A. Anakin Skywalker in Episode 2-3, he is a Mickey Mouse if I ever saw one! ;))

Watch 4, 5, 6, then 1, 2, and 3. Then watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars series (it's on Netflix.) Ashley Eckstein voices a major character in it and she's usually at Star Wars Weekends. She even honeymooned at Disney!

There's also the Expanded Universe as well, but if you're just getting into Star Wars because of Disney I assume you won't be interested in the EU.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Alright -- I've decided to do the movies in numerical/chronological order. I finished Episode 1 and am about 30 minutes into Episode 2 (these movies are long!) and so far I am loving it! I really didn't think I would enjoy SW this much. Maybe after I finish them, I'll have to watch them in other orders too.

Holy mother of Mickey Mouse -- he is the Mickiest Mouse I've ever seen! :lovestruc

My brother just got Netflix and he gave me his username/password, so I will definitely check out Clone Wars when I'm done with the movies. Thanks for the recommendation!
