Does anyone know the last weekend Star Wars Weekends will be taking place in June 2005?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that there will be any Star Wars Weekends in 2005. When Episode 2 hit theaters in the spring of 2002, George Lucas chose to forego SWW in favor of his own publicity events. If I recall correctly, there was only one "weekend" in '02 (mid-May), and it didn't come close to approaching the scale of years before and after.

We'll have to wait for an official announcement to get the scoop on any 2005 events.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep my fingers crossed. We had a great time at MGM in June. DS will be bummed if they don't have them again.

Sorry, I was confused by the last post. I got the impression that SWW was doe away with at WDW. True, George Lucas does do his own version of Star Wars Weekends somewhere else, but Disney did have a Star Wars Weekend this year in May. It was my first time attending MGM during SWW, but I must say I was very impressed (even though I don't like Star Wars ::ducking::). There were A LOT of characters from the movies (not the actual stars of the films, just people in costumes, but very good costumes). As a matter of fact, the only picture I have of my husband smiling is the one I took of him and Darth Vader :) They did have two of the actual stars the weekend we went (Peter Mayhew: Chewbacca & Jerome Blake: Rune Haako) and they had different stars each weekend.
SWW 2004 seemed to be a big hit, and I can't imagine them not doing it again for 2005 although I have not heard any dates yet.

At disneyworld.com they do have a note saying Star Wars weekends will be held on Weekends in May and June of 2005. No other details offered yet and of course, that is always subject to change.

Star Wars weekends have been around since at least 2000. The gathering was held annually for several weeks in May and June EXCEPT for 2002.

Disney must obtain a certain level of approval from George Lucas to hold SWW. In 2002, Lucas apparently put the kybosh on Disney / MGM events in favor of his own promotional machine. This may have been fallout from the declining crowds after 9/11, or it may have simply been a business decision on Lucas' part.

While SWW do seem to be a big hit with WDW guests, the reality is that they could end at any time based upon George Lucas' whim. 2005 events, in particular, may be in jeopardy due to the pending release of the final film. As was the case in 2002, Lucas may not opt to endorse SWW, leaving Disney unable to host the event.

Again, this is all speculation--but it's speculation based upon historical precedent.
