Has anyone done a Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios before? Would like some information about them if anyone has anything to share. Our DD would like to go next year for her birthday and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sure have! I have gone the past 4 years (2005-2008). SWW is a lot of fun! I love getting to meet all the Star Wars characters. And last summer, for the first time, I decided to meet some of the celebrities (including Warwick Davis, who was so nice!).

We went June 07, Get to DHS at opening, My DS (5 at the time of trip) had a great time, had pics taken with Chewy, Princess Lea, Luke. He wouldn't do Darth Vader. Watched the parade. We had a great time. In June 08 didn't go to DHS on those days. Going back, and plan to go SWW. Hope you and DD Have fun!!!!

I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW THE DAY WORKS. DO THEY CANCEL THE BLOCK PARTY FOR THE STAR WARS PARADE? WHAT ABOUT HSM3? BESIDES LONG LINES FOR STAR TOURS, WHAT ARE THE OTHER MUST KNOWS? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!:goodvibes

I went with my hubby and son (both HUGE Star Wars fans) for the 2nd week in June this past summer. The weather was abnormally warm for Orlando during this week so visiting with the Star Wars characters had shorter times than usual because they needed more frequent breaks, (can you blame them?) Other than that, the event is not to be missed by true Star Wars fans. They still had the Block Party and HSM parades, just had the additional Star Wars one (which sadly we missed because we were on a ride). There is also a closing show at the end of the day where the characters come out and do some dance parodies - called Hyperspace Hoopla - and this is the BEST part of the whole event! It was very crowded there for this (well for everything because there are lots of Star Wars fans)but well worth being elbow-to-elbow for! Go to you tube to watch some of the videos on this event and I think you will get very excited to join in!

Thanks for the quick responses. It sounds like great fun. But we do have a couple more questions.

1. What day does it start on? Friday or Saturday?
2. Is it only on the weekends?
3. How terribly crowded is the park?
4. Do lots of people dress up?

And any other facts you can think of would be greatly appreciated.

thank you! never heard about the hyperspace hoopla! I got to see that!!

I am not an expert by any means, but the only times/dates I saw for this event was during June. And, it goes on every Sat. in June with different stars from the movies being highlighted each weekend - and you have to get a fastpass for their autograph (we didn't do this because we took a pic of them and that's fine for us). They also give you a pamphlet that is specifically Star Wars events there for the day with the locations all mapped out (like the ones you get for Pirate Princess party). By the way, the t-shirts that they have for this event are great!! I bought one for my son that had Donald dressed as a storm trooper - love it! Oh I also forgot to mention that in addition to the parade and dance parody that they had, there is like a Q&A that goes on with the guy who is the "host". I can't remember his name, the guy who played Wicket the Ewok in the last Star Wars movie. During that time this year they had a sneak preview of the new clone wars cartoon that is now on TV. We didn't go to that either because my son isn't interested in the actors - just the characters so I think that is probably more geared for adults and teens - just my opinion. Like I said earlier, you tube has a lot of clips on this event that should be checked out to get a feel for the event.

No, they do not cancel BPB. The SWW parade is at 11am (I believe) and BPB is at 3pm. They still do HSM as well (they sometimes move the location though).

1. It runs Fri-Sun for each of the 4 weekends.
2. Yes
3. It can be. It also depends on which celebrities are there for the weekend.
4. Oh yes!

Just a warning- some of the character lines (like Mickey, Darth Vader, ect) can get LONG. Make sure to see your favorites first thing. Also, if you plan on meeting any of the SWW celebrities- the FPs for them usually are gone by 9:30am (and some go right away, if they are really popular. Last summer, people waited the day before to get FP for a celebrity).

Are Star Wars Weekends always in June?

Mike

It has been the past 2 years. But in 2006, it was split over May and June.
