Has anyone gone to the Star Wars weekend before? Our DS(9) loves SW. Any tips on things to see?

They have booths set up to meet actors and a star wars training thing. Kids if selected get to fight a bad guy. Some visitors even dress up in costume.

Have fun.

We went to Star Wars Weekend in 2007, and had a blast! We got autographs from Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett). If you want the celebrity autographs, you really do need to get to the park early. I think we arrived about an hour before opening, but there were probably several hundred people in line already. I think the best part was simply the number of characters that were roaming the park. The stormtroopers were particularly fun. Don't miss the parade!! We aren't really big parade people and rarely bother with the Disney parades, but the Star Wars one was so unique and I am very glad we got a good viewing space. Have a great time!

It's agreat time and remmeber to look all around Characters are all over just roaming.

The Parade is good , But like mentioned if you want to see the Real actors get the Early and I mean real early. They have separate entrance lins that you get sorta a FastPass to see them.

If you just want to see them you can just walk past the lines or wait for the PArade as they ar ein that.

Like PP said, you need to get there early if you want actor autographs. We were there in 2007 also and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun to watch the storm troopers up on top of the ticket booths while we waited to get in the parks. The parade was fun for the kids to watch and then to have their pictures taken with all of the characters just made their day.

Also, be prepared for that side of the park to be EXTREMELY CROWDED. Tattoine Traders was an absolute madhouse just to get through when you get off the ride. It did seem to thin out considerably late afternoon, early evening, but then most of the characters you want to see are already gone.

Overall it was fun and we'll be doing it again in 2 weeks.

Speaking of SW weekends, if any annual passholders might be kind enough to grab me one of the AP-exclusive yoda pins (without an ebay-esque markup), I'd appreciate it very much!

I'd be happy to paypal you cash for it, or I could trade a "year of a million dreams" tinkerbell pin that we "won" last year for it :goodvibes

If my wife permits.

Since the Jedi Academy now runs year round. Do NOT plan on doing this on a SWW, way way too many people to hope to get picked.

We have been during SWW twice. It is a blast. Both times we have been to a "show" with the actors from the movie. The stormtroopers are a blast before the show. Have fun!

  • If possible, try to get BCV or BWV at least for the portion of the trip covering your DHS day and WALK to the park. The busses get trapped in the same traffic and it can back up insanely on the SWW days.
  • Get there early and sign up for any character autographs/Padwan academy that you want to do because the spots/FP will be GONE in a flash.
  • Prepare yourself to just relax and go with the flow - very few rides, mostly getting character autographs.
  • Speaking of character autographs, I hugely recommend getting a SW ball cap and having the SWW-exclusive charcters sign - DS has one that he still wears and loves.
  • Don't miss the marketplace - and they only sell most of the merchandise on the actual weekends so buy it when you see it. We made the mistake of waiting for a t-shirt and finding out we could not buy it later.

Thanks for all the info!

We are going the first weekend of SWW this year. I think the only character we will care about is seeing Darth Maul for an autograph. We'll def want a picture with Darth Vader Our DS 9, who loves SW, also has had the pleasure to be one of the kids picked out for the JEdi Training Academy in the past.

We're mainly excited about seeing characters walking around and the exclusive stuff. How is the parade? Does it take the place of the block party?

I assumed that our DS (who was 9 at the time and never a big fan of autographs) would not really care - but boy was I wrong! There are the actor autographs (mostly for adult collectors it seemed) but there are TONS of SW characters. The lines can be long - but our DS wanted to meet everyone. He's got Boba Fett, Queen Amidala, Luke, Leia, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and some Ewok signature on his cap. DD and I ended up leaving him and his dad and heading to MK because she was totally bored with the SW character lines.

How does one get the AP-exclusive SWW pin? We are buying our APs this weekend for the first time.

The pin is advertised in the Mickey Monitor (AP newsletter) -- I think you can get it any time during Star Wars Weekends, presumably at Disney Studios.

We are going too, for the first time. I'm really trying to figure out how to do it. I have 3 days "scheduled" there, but if it's too much, we will have to find something else to do. Shouldn't be too hard!;)

We went to SWW last year for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I'm sure you will too.

Don't miss the parade. Start looking for a spot in the shadeat least 30 minutes before the start time. And defintely take part in the Hyperspace Hoopla at 7pm at least one of the days. Get to the Hoopla before the last Jedi Academy of the day so you can get closer to the stage. We didn't bother with meeting the actors abut we did get lots of character photos and that will involve waiting in line sometimes for only a few minutes and sometimes longer- like the line to meet Chewbacca which was long but well worth it.

You've got to go all the way towards the back of the park to get to Darth. We did that first thing one morning and didn't have any line to wait on.
