Star Wars Weekend --which day to go?

I have some friends that will be visiting WDW for the first time! Their 4 year old is nuts over Star Wars and that is what "put them over the edge" to go this year. They will be visiting from a Thursday to Monday in June. They weren't planning on going to MGM until Saturday and Sunday but I'm wondering if they should go there on Friday. My thinking was that the local crowds would be higher Sat. and Sunday. Or do you think it really won't make any difference? They have park hoppers, but of course won't be very familiar and have the ease of getting around as us veterans do! Any hints would be appreciated! Thanks!

The actual Star Wars events only take place on Saturday and Sunday. It is Star Wars weekends. If they want to see any of the Star Wars stars or the Star Wars parade, they will need to attend on the weekend.

FRIDAY is also included as a Star Wars Weekend day. Just a note that Fridays in June will have morning Extra Magic Hour for MGM Studios. That could be a plus if staying onsite or a minus if staying elsewhere.

We are heading down in May and plan on being to the Star Wars weekend on Friday the 19th. Hope it's not too crazy, my son is a Star Wars fanatic and hopes to get in the Jedi School.

I was scared for a minute since we are scheduling our MGM Star Wars day on Friday. We were hoping crowds would be lower than a Saturday or Sunday. This way if we miss anything we also come back Saturday evening. My DS's need to start practicing with their lightsabers for the Jedi Academy...

The SWW events run on Friday, Saturday & Sunday so there is no difference in terms of events of what you see on any of those days. I would recommend Friday in general only because you have less locals there as opposed to Sat or Sun

We're not big Star Wars fans but were in MGM on a Friday and went on the Star Wars ride. We had fastpasses but the standby line was super long. And when you get off and go into the store, we could barely move it was so packed.

Just FYI, they do the Jedi academy now on a regular basis. We went in April and my son was selected to be on stage and LOVED..LOVED...LOVED it. In case this is your only reason to go you might pick a "non" star wars weekend day and do the jedi academy. Might be a little less busy...

I went to a Star Wars Weekend last year on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday we didn't arrive until 11am. The park was fairly packed but we did a couple of things (RnR and ToT and got a schedule). On Saturday I arrived before opening and saw the show. We were skipping the autographs (for real actoirs) and found the park was not that crowded except for around Star tours (which we rode with a FP). We left midday and came back for the last LMA show and stayed through Fantamsic. We expected bigger crowds Saturday but found that they were worse on Friday than Saturday. After getting the FP for ToT on Friday we hopped to EPCOT, bought something for mom that needed to be signed and painted, waited for that to happen and got back in time for me to ride during my window. I did not get FP for RnR and then wait to get another because my DH doesn't ride either so I was using 1 ticket for each but the FP had a 4 hour return time. I would have to say friday was worse from my exprience but it was the Friday before Memorial Day and I know our schools were already out.

Actually Thursday is the Studios "dead day" traditionally. But most weekdays work well for the Studios.

I'm assuming that "dead day" means that it's the least crowded, correct? What are the dead days for the other three parks?
