Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

It has been a while since I have read through this thread - seems I have lots of back issues to catch up on. As an FYI for spacing of where we all are - I'll be there second weekend, along with my crew.

Does anybody have any intel on the Droid Factory set up and pricing? I know it is supposed to open today, but I expect that lots of DISers will be able to get the info to us almost immediately.

I'm pretty stoked for the weekend - even have my Carbon Freeze Me reservation set already.

If you're familiar with the set up in Tattoine Traders, they are using the center pod (where the stuffed ewoks used to be) to use for the build your own Droid. Per CM's mouth it will be $12.95 per unit.

I am indeed. I saw your earlier post in catching up, but thanks again for the info. ANy ideas if it will be like the Sabers or Potato Head in how it works? I would suspect more like the light saber - if you can cram it in or on it, good. If not, buy another one. PotatoHead was just too cool, though - stuff the potato, stuff it and whatever else you can in the box (at least it was like that back in the day when I did mine).

Disney Parks Blog just posted an article on it: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...atooine-traders-at-disneys-hollywood-studios/

Great news from the article above; the build your own droid will also be available at Darth Mall...no need to cram into Tattoine Traders during SWW (unless you're exiting the ride)...one pack for $11.95 and 2 for $18.95 plus tax

Throwing our name into the mix -- we'll be there next week for the first weekend. It's my son's 7th birthday on the 20th and he loves SW - so he is beyond excited. Finally read through the entire thread and I want to say thanks to all for your posts and advice!!

I'm going to consider myself lucky that DH won't be doing the frozen in carbonite thing. It sounds really cool though. I did my wifely duty and sent him the link when it was announced. Either he didn't read it or didn't want to spend the money. Either way, I'll consider it a win for our bank account. :)

@ Aerorea, Hello neighbor! I won't see you that 1st weekend, but now I'll be looking for a blonde with a white cane in my hometown!

Okay Sam Gordon, I know you're going...spell it out, when???? As for any others, if you so much as spit out a wknd, "You're going down!!" (as in on my list, LOL!)

Alrighty,

I booked that Carbon Freeze Me for DH as a Father's Day gift and for DS as a B Day gift. I can always back out DS 2 days prior if I change my mind about cost; We already have bought Star Wars stuff for him throughout the year and DD would get very jealous.

A little more info on the Carbon Freeze Me; I asked about costumes and such and was told it will be a head shot from the neck up onto Han Solo's body. It'll roughly take 10 minutes; you'll be able to see the head scans onto the body and they will take pics until you're satisfied with the 3D image. Show up 10 min. prior to your appointment. The figure will be made and shipped after 4 weeks and shipping will be charged extra. (FedEx)

I've scheduled them for 5/25 at 9:40.

I just saw that DisneyParksBlog went through the Carbon Freeze Me process and posted about it. Here's their link.

Go read some of the comments on the blog; there's one by Dan that had me cracking up. Dan, if you're on DISboards and are reading this, :thumbsup2.

DH is getting Carbon Frozen on the 1st at 8:20 am. The CM I talked with said she wasn't sure how long it would take, but I'm hoping to be out of there before 9 am.

@Karpkg - Definitely keep an eye out for me. I can most often be spotted in Woodstock and Kennesaw. :)

I had the crazy idea of going to Jellyrolls on the 18th after DHS closes - IF we're not dead. DH absolutely loves it and it's so easy to get to from DHS. I'm hoping it would be a fun, geeky crowd. We're already planning on sleeping in a bit before going to DTD on Saturday anyway. Hmm...

Has anyone ever hit Jellyrolls during SWW?

Does anyone know if any of the "special" Star Wars treats are included in the dining plan? Like the meal in the R2D2 bucket, or a Vader cupcake as a snack? I had sort of assumed no, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. :goodvibes

Does anyone know if the build your own droid started today? I thought I read may 10 somewhere, but the new article makes it sound like it does t start til first day of star wars weekends.

Reposting........

So we are going to SWW for the first time this year. We will be there Sat & Sun of the final weekend. My kids ar 4 & 6 so we aren't concerned with celebs, but characters is a must. I've noted where everyone is from reading this thread. My question is I see it mentioned to stand separately in lines for rotating characters which we will do, but how far apart do you think we should stand? 8 to 10 people? We plan to arrive at 7am sign up for JTA (they did it in September, but my son loved it! He's hoping o fight Darth Maul!) then get in there and line up for the fab4 and go from there. Oh and FP TSM and ST.

Where is JTA sign ups? When we were here in September they were in sounds dangerous.

Thanks. This thread is fabulous!

I'd say stand back about 10ppl and then just let ppl in front of you until 'your' character arrives. Let ppl know who you are waiting for though so they will expect you to come back into place when that character arrives.

Most ppl are very easy going and are also trying to get all the characters. :thumbsup2

As for JTA, I believe it was posted that they will be over at Indiana Jones since Sounds Dangerous is being used for the Carbon Freeze.

He's booked in at 8:15am so he'll be there before you. I have no idea how long it takes but if you get there earlier, we'll be there! :)

They told me that 9 was the earliest time. Oh well. It's booked and before all the other stuff. I will also have time to get my fast pass for an autograph if I want it. It's all good. No worries. I expect to be there in my Imperial Officer hat.
