Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Well after 45 minutes on hold to book the Carbon Freeze me for my son, I was told that you can't start booking this until tomorrow at 3:00 pm.

Does anyone know of anyone who has actually booked this?

TIA

Rick

Confirmed, just told the same thing.

I'm wondering how much rain hinders the schedule.
Do they cancel the parade altogether if it rains?
As for character greetings, do they move them indoors? Or under a tent? I'm especially wondering about the Disney Star Wars characters (Jedi Mickey, etc).

Thanks for your help!!

A few questions from a sww newbie if anyone can help. We went about 6 years ago but DH is "more serious" this time. The rest of us are along for the ride. We will go the last weekend and I believe just that Sunday (assuming this is a better choice an Saturday).

Where are the fast passes for the celebs given? Is it by machine inside the park, by a human, is it in the line outside the park? Can he get two with our tickets like a regular fast pass or will I have tomstand with him in line?

When you have a fast pass for a celeb and you come back during your time, how long of a wait is this on average?

How many items can one person have signed? Is two (like a helmet and action figure box) too much? Wouldn't want to be rude. Is it a problem for the boys who are ticketless due to age to go the line with him and get a picture?

Sorry if another has already asked these questins. I skimmed the thread and just didn't see exactly what I was looking for. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Anyone know if you have to pre pay for the carbonate figure when you book the appointment?

When I called Sunday and was told tomorrow, I asked, and she thought we'd have to pre pay, but couldn't recall off hand what she was told, and since it's not in the computer yet she wasn't able to look it up.

Some celebs can be chatty as others said. The hosts, Ray, Jeremy, and Daniel are particurally chatty

I think 2 is fine, but go over that and it will take up your talking time.

Can't help you on the others, sorry!

Is it possible to get in line early if you're staying off-site? Will you be able to park at 6am-ish?

Thanks for any info!

Hi everyone; I got some info from CM's mouths (so you know to treat it as rumors at this point) but it'll likely be all true.
1st the Build A Droid station is permanent inside Tattoine Traiders, it'll occupy the middle station (where the little stuffed ewoks are now) and it'll cost $12.95.
2nd. Disney Channel Rocks will still be performed at the Sorcerer Hat during SWW. Last show is at 5:30pm
3rd. Talked to a JTA CM (the one that signs kids up) and asked her about what the process will be during SWW. After calling a coordinator she told me that most likely the sign ups will be at Indiana Jones Fp machines, because the inside of Sounds Dangerous will be in use for the Carbon Freeze Me thing and the post show area will be used as rain locations for celeb autographs and storage for SWW.
Walked over to RnRC and the tent is up, just catched a glimpse from the top and it has a big picture of Darth Maul's face (awesome)
As to questions posted from yesterday:
About Carbon Freeze Me it says on the HUB that they will take a credit card number on hold and there's a $25 cancellation fee 2 days prior to your reservation.
Rain Locations for characters is usually inside the Merchandise Tent, but it won't fit all of them. I've never seen the Fab 4 inside the tent, usually it's Amidala, The Jedi Council, Darth Maul.
Darth Vader won't need a rain location since his meet and greet is under cover.
Hoopla and parade do get cancelled due to rain. Sometimes they put in on hold if they see that the rain will pass fast.
Autographs are supposed to be one per person...some CM that are with the celebs will enforce it, some will look the other way if the celeb is willing to sign more than one item.
CM schedules for the first Friday and Saturday are out; they are prepared to have the main rides up and running earlier than 8am. Merchandise locations for SWW will be open and ready by 7am the first day of the first weekend. So plan accordingly.
Still the decision to open earlier than 8am will come on that day and will depend on the amount of people outside the turnstiles.
and lastly, Mesaboy 2 is right: Vader is bitter and also quite whiny...MTFBWY

So excited to get to go to my first SWW, unfortunately we will be flying in on the last day and really will only get to see a little bit of it. I have no plans for the day other than just soaking in the SWW aura and maybe get to see a character or two. Any chance that the last day of SWW will be slightly less crowded than the rest of the days?

Yulilin3,

You are awesome as always!! Thank you for the SWW update!!!

I called the number this morning to schedule the Carbon Freeze, just in case what I was told yesterday was incorrect. The automated voice said, "one of our CM's will be with momentarily to schedule your Carbon Freeze Me experience." paraphrasing.

But when the CM answered, I was again told they could't book until 3:00 pm today.

Thanks for any info!

A lot of the locals arrive without staying onsite. Some stay the night, so yes you'll be able to park a lot earlier than 6am.

Starting to get really excited for SWW!!! This will be the second trip for my son and me. Things have been very crazy and I haven't kept up with this thread. I just saw the Carbon Freeze Me. I am not on hold for a reservation for my son. They said the current wait time is over 30 minutes. UGH! Keep you fingers crossed for me.

I was able to meet several people from the boards last year during the weekend. Anyone planning any meet and greets this year?

Rick

I'm sure we'll be seeing each other waiting in line again. :) I met Delmar411 this way. I believe I saw MsD walking around last year from a prior description of a star wars shirt she wore last year. I believe Yulilin3 will be there Sat and Sundays. As for me, I'll be there Wknd 2 Friday and Wknd 3 Friday. I'm currently making our star wars shirt design for the family.

Anybody else? What wknds will everyone be?

Thank you so much for this great info!:thumbsup2

Yulilin- as always, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! :dance3:

I am SO glad I did not make any breakfast ADR's on SWW this year. I love the idea of being able to ride a few things in the AM before the SW characters are out!

Anybody else? What wknds will everyone be?

We will be there the 3rd and 4th weekend :cool1:
June 2nd for sure then June 8th and 10th, but may end up going a 4th day just depends on how many characters we get to see (or when my girls get sick of standing in lines for the charaters they want to meet:rolleyes1)

Thanks everyone for your kind words...I'm an over planner so I know how hard it can be to plan without really knowing what's going on.
I'm using my deductions, and here's what I think about the time for the SW Parade:
Disney Channel Rocks will be performed at the Hat Stage and these are the times during the first SWW 10am, 11am, 12pm,1:30pm, 4:30pm,5:30pm

JTA will be performed at the following times for SWW: 9:15am, 9:45am,
10:15am, 10:45am,11:15am, 11:45am,12:15pm, 1:30pm,2pm, 3:45pm,4:1pm, 4:45pm,5:15pm, 5:45pm,6:15pm, 6:45pm
So the parade should be at the same time as last year :12:40pm
just my deductions.
Also I forgot to post before, walking around DHS yesterday I noticed that the American Idol Gift Shop (right next to Sounds Dangerous) has no AI merchandise it's all been transformed to SW merchandise. Same goes for Youse Guys Moychindise, all SW. Oddly enough the store next to Catering Co. Restaurant (by Backlot Tour) has nothing related to SW...it might change.
A tip worth repeating...unless you want to get the "build your own R2 unit" don't try and shop at Tattoine Traders, it'll be insane...last year they had the build your own lightsaber at the big merchandise tent, maybe they'll do the same for the R2 units.
Lastly; it was hot yesterday, It hit 92 degrees I saw plenty of cranky kids being pushed by crankier parents, plan ahead so you can have a more enjoyable experience.
I have my Rebel Spy (my husband) trying to dig out more info on opening times for the first weekend...we'll see tonight if he comes thru with anything worth reporting back.
