Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

First of all, May the Fourth Be With You Everybody! :goodvibes

It varies, but recently and last year you just needed to be there early enough to get a Fast Pass. The line for FP was before the turnstile opening.

I hope it's the same again because this year I'll be using YES vouchers and I'll need to exchange them for tickets. If not I would argue logically that if they're going to open up the FP line early and require tickets at the same time, they should have the ticket lines open as well. What would be the use since you'll have to be in DHS to be able to use your FP anyway?

As for Ray Park, I would try and shoot for at least 6 AM. He's popular, and he likes to spend time and interact with his fans. So those with standby tickets run the risk of not being able to see him.

Thanks for the info!! :thumbsup2

What does everyone do for autograph books for SWW? I am checking out the DISign threads to see if they have any SW autograph pages.

DS brings a lightsaber and had the characters sign the blade.

Central Florida 99- the cupcakes are premade, so if they are the chocolate PB ones, I think you are out of luck- sorry!!!

We usually don't take an autograph book. We've found there is more time for impromptu interactions without a book and pen in hand. Over the years, the kids have been captured by bounty hunters, refused the right to pass by storm troopers, engaged in aggressive negotiations, etc. Last year my youngest saw Luke and Leia together. He had a General Greivous light saber with him. They talked to him for a long time about his light saber and asked for a demonstration, then they both tried what they had been "taught". Those interactions are his favorite part of SWW.

Thanks! We did not do autographs last year in the parks for the same reason and they never gave the books a 2nd thought once they were home. Maybe we should follow suit for SWW :)

Cinderumbrella: light saber idea sounds fun!

Thanks to all who posted their experiences and advice!

We decided last week to make a trip down later this month and will definitely catch the 3rd SWW! My 7DS is a big fan and is really excited. I want to make sure he gets the most out of the weekend and the advice really helps. We are planning on Sunday as our all day in HS but we may try to make Friday and Saturday nights just in case our Sunday gets rained out. I know how showers can pop up in hot, humid weather.

Looking forward to getting this year's info so that I can plan further. :thumbsup2

I don't think an autograph book hinders any of the interactions. My kids have had similar interactions and still have autographs on top of it all.

YDS had his hip pack autographed last year too. He decided randomly that he wanted it signed so we let him have at it. Turned into a great unplanned souvenir.

That's great you didn't feel rushed! We felt so rushed and that's why we stopped.

Great souvenEAR!!

I have no problem bringing what I need to have autographs done. I make my own autograph pages; some I've printed from Creative DISigns. I use a pencil box to keep the pages in and sharpies. The characters use the back of the box to write on.

I'll eventually get them all bound. Haven't done it lately because I've scanned them and put them in my photobooks online.

It was on the verge of raining when the Hoopla ended for us last year. The timing was great for them because it started lightning and thundering soon after. We ran for The Great Movie Ride and got caught on that ride for a while. 2x was enough for us; others on the Star Tours got to go through 5x in a row I heard.

I suppose they'd have to cut it short because of the costumes and makeup on the characters if it rained during the show. For Meet and Greets the characters were brought back inside.

Starting to get really excited for SWW!!! This will be the second trip for my son and me. Things have been very crazy and I haven't kept up with this thread. I just saw the Carbon Freeze Me. I am not on hold for a reservation for my son. They said the current wait time is over 30 minutes. UGH! Keep you fingers crossed for me.

I was able to meet several people from the boards last year during the weekend. Anyone planning any meet and greets this year?

Rick

So we are going to SWW for the first time this year. We will be there Sat & Sun of the final weekend. My kids ar 4 & 6 so we aren't concerned with celebs, but characters is a must. I've noted where everyone is from reading this thread. My question is I see it mentioned to stand separately in lines for rotating characters which we will do, but how far apart do you think we should stand? 8 to 10 people? We plan to arrive at 7am sign up for JTA (they did it in September, but my son loved it! He's hoping o fight Darth Maul!) then get in there and line up for the fab4 and go from there. Oh and FP TSM and ST.

Where is JTA sign ups? When we were here in September they were in sounds dangerous.

Thanks. This thread is fabulous!

Well after 45 minutes on hold to book the Carbon Freeze me for my son, I was told that you can't start booking this until tomorrow at 3:00 pm.

Does anyone know of anyone who has actually booked this?

TIA

Rick
