Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Not only are there things left, but the event-specific merchandise (the stuff that actually says Disney Star Wars Weekends) is usually marked down.

Great to know! THANKS! We will be arriving at WDW on Friday, 6/8 for two weeks. My plan is Friday evening and Sunday all day at HS for SWW. I'm assuming Saturday will be busier than Friday or Sunday. My DS (8) can't wait!

Thanks Delmar41 and CentralFloridian99!

We will be going to the first weekend, May 18-20.

I don't think we're necessarily interested in getting the actors autographs--more interested in getting pictures with the Disney characters dressed in star wars costume--like Leia Minnie and Jedi Mickey.

So pics with characters, Hoopla, JTA, and the parade are the main things. We probably don't have much interest in the specialized merchandise at all either.

I would plan an open to close day then. Just push through the pain ;) and get it all done in one day.

Thanks, I think you're right. :thumbsup2 I was able to make a few changes to our ADRs, so now the plan is to spend all of Friday at the Studios, and if we still feel up to it, head to Epcot after for the EMH.

Just received my Mickey Monitor for the Summer and the cover is SWW, it also has an article that confirms a couple of things:
The Stormtroopers will again be on top of the turnstiles in the morning
The parade, again will end at the Hat Stage with all the characters and celebs posing for pictures

Oh good! Hopefully my Mickey Monitor will come Monday.

Is it poor form for the kids to join in character lines? Was thinking we could get.more in if we waited in seperate lines

no not poor form at all. It's often how it's done, esp lines that are out in direct sun or that have rotating characters. One parent stands a ways back in the same line so once the kids see one character they can get in place with the other parent in an attempt to see a different character by the time they get to the front again.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. When we were in line for Phinneas and Ferb back when they first started, there was a man in front of me. As we got closer, suddenly that 1 man turned into 12 people. IMHO that was bad form.

This thread has been so helpful! Thank you to everyone who is taking time to post updates/tips. This is our family's first experience with SWW and I have a question about Jedi Training and making an ADR.

We will be spending June 1-3 at SWW. June 1 is the only day for my son to do Jedi Training with his cousins though. We have an ADR at 510 for 'Ohana. If we get to the turnstiles around 730 will we be signed up for JTA in time to make our ADR? We would need to leave in the early afternoon and since'Ohana now has the credit card guarantee we can't play it by ear once we get our time. Should we cancel our ADR or should we be able to get into JTA before 3?

Is the SW parade on Sundays as well as Saturday? This will be our 1st time there for SWW. My 6 year old son is like his daddy, loves all things Star Wars. We are not arriving until late Sat. night so early Sunday morning we will be at HS.

The only thing I can think of is be there as early as possible. Keep checking the boards previous to that weekend to see at what times the park is actually opening...Then when you go sign the kids up for JTA just let the CM know that you have the ressie at Ohana's and if they can give you the earliest possible JTA. But the key issue is to be there early.

Celebrity FP question . . .

So, when you go to get your autograph/photo at the alloted time, is the FP line long (i.e., are you waiting 5-10 minutes or 30+ minutes)?

If your Fp says "10:00am to 10:15am" get to the celeb area (tent) about 5min. before your first time (in this case 10am) you should have to wait only around 10min.
If you don't get there in time, (lets say the complete session is from 9:45am to 10:45am and your fp is 10:00am to 10:15am) and you get there at 10:30am, for example, let the CM know and they will let you in.

This will be our first time to SWW and the boards have been very helpful on what to expect!! HS opens at 8:00am and we plan to go straight to JTA also in hopes of getting the first opening. We have an ADR for Sci-Fi at 1:20pm and am anticipating that we will have our JTA complete before our ADR. But that is in HS. We are pushing through this one without mid-day breaks! Our break will be lunch. Good luck!!

Telling the CM you need the earliest possible JTA won't help. That's what they're already giving you. They'll hand out 9:15 1-30, then 9:45 1-30, then 10:15 1-30, etc, etc, (times approximate). So if you step up to the CM and they hand you a pass for 4:15, they can't give you an earlier one.

JMO, arriving at 7:30 is a gamble. Yes, you might get a JTA that works, but you might not. Then what? You either disappoint your kid or miss your ADR. In your situation, I would either A) Cancel/reschedule ADR or B) arrive at the gates at 7AM.
