Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

We are going Friday 6/2. Park says it opens at 9:00. We are staying on site, what time should we arrive for the storm troppers and to make sure we can sign up for Jedi Training? We have 2 - 8 year olds so getting their at 7 am is not an option.

7am.

This is assuming they open the park at 8am (which they did last year). IMO, you MIGHT make JTA if you get there by 7:30, but that is the ABSOLUTE latest I would show up if JTA is that important.

Pay attention online and see what time they've opened the gates the previous weekends. That will tell you if they're sticking to the 9am opening or opening early.

BTW, my DS (7 at the time of the trip last year), HATES getting up early. He is a bear to get woken up for school. When it was time for SWW though... not one gripe. He was up & excited to go.

I wouldn't be there a minute past 7am, last year they opened up an hour earlier than posted every single day.

Last year I had a 4yr old, 5yr old, 6yr old and 13yr old (and 33yr old! LOL) out there at 5am standing in line for celeb autographs. 2 8yr olds? That's a cakewalk! ;):rotfl:

Hi all - love the discussion and CAN'T WAIT to go to SSW on 6/1. I have a scheduling question for the veterans (or anyone really). I have never been (for SSW) and it's going to be a great guys weekend. Me, my buddy, my godson (11) and my buddy's son (15).

We arrive in Orlando at around noon. Staying offsite, so we will get the car (and by shipping luggage) are planning on heading right to the Studios. We are planning on the afternoon on Friday at Studios, then other Disney parks on Saturday, and then back to The Studios on Sunday after Gospel Sunday Brunch at House of Blues at 10:30.

My question is - is this enough time at Star Wars Weekend? Should I plan on Saturday there too? It's the reason for the trip (we plan on Islands of Adventure on Monday) - but have a couple more days before we leave to spread around other parks. I want to have a good balance of Star Wars and the other parks, but from all the info it sounds like there is just so much going on. We are not ones for celebrity autographs, so that isn't a big deal, and my godson did the Jedi Academy last trip, but non-SSW (didn't know Star Wars weekend existed - hence this trip). Also, anyone know if we will make it from House of Blues on Sunday from a 10:30 brunch to Studios in time for the parade? If not, we will have head there on Saturday for it.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the info on getting there at 7 for a 9 (maybe 8 opening). What time will the disney buses start running? We are staying at CBR

You'll need to be there Saturday if you want to see the parade. Plus the character lines are super long and they just get longer as the day goes on, which limits your ability to meet everyone. And there are multiple shows to go see (if the boys are into that) so yeah I would definitely plan on going on Saturday. If you finish up all the characters they want to see on Saturday then you could plan another park for Sunday.

I agree with Delmar411, you need at least a full day to see most of SWW.

Although busses are supposed to start running around 6:30a, that doesn't mean there's going to be a bus at your resort at 6:30, much less one heading to DHS.

Here's what DS & I did last year (staying at BLT)... At the bus stop at 6:25. No bus (to any park) by 6:35. Got a cab (there was one at the front of CR) to take us to the park. $20 (including tip). We were there by 7.

What about the boats? We are staying at BWVs. I know I can walk over with my kids but my aunt won't be able to.

I think the boats starts running 1 hour before official park opening and 1/2 hour before EMH. So if the park is schedule to open at 9am the boats start at 8am

We are planning on getting a taxi. I don't want to be waiting at the bus stop hoping a bus gets there in time. I would rather just spend the $20 and get there on my timeframe.

my thoughts is i am going to spend way too mcuh money in the souvineer tent.

I want a t-shirt
the donald as darth maul figurine
the iphone case

in the past have they had christmas ornaments?

I love the Ewok shirt! The vinylmations are cute. I wonder if those circle pins going to be buttons or pins? I like the shopping bag. I think the bottom half a jedi for a beach towel is a bit odd. Love the TSM storm trooper pin! The muppet rat yoda is hysterical.

I like the vinyls and the t's. I wonder what the passholder t will look like?

I wonder about the passholder merchandise too!

Does anyone know if you can order SWW merch over the phone or do you have to do it in person? I assume in person, but would love to have shirts in advance to surprise the kids as they don't know yet that we are going.

We are going the first Saturday but arrive in Orlando Friday so I think my hubby and I will run by DHS to go to the merch tent and get the vinylmations, look at the passholder merchandise, and get something my husband can have Ray sign on Saturday.

Last year they had run out of a lot of stuff by the second weekend we were there so we definitely want to get our hands on these items!

Here's the list of merchandise I want:

The TSM Stormtrooper pin
The Duck Maul pin (anyone know how many pins will be made? I go on the first Sunday)
Piece of the Death Star
The Chewbacca Lanyard (just in time too; I need a new one :p)
The iPhone/iPod Touch case
The Star Tours nametag
The Vinyl Figures (don't normally collect them, but these I have to get)
The button set, depending on how much it costs
The official SWW shirt
The mug
