Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Do they give you any indication, like they do on the rides, of how long the current wait is for the picture line? If not, could you ask the Cm? Would he or she have an approximate wait time?

It depends on which CM you get. There was a great one last year. She would yell out the conditions; when you reach this area you have the option to wait for the character you wanted or step forward and take whoever was there. She would say who's coming next. She'd give an approximate wait time. I'm hoping she'll be there again or someone very similar.

If you have another person with you you can try and have that person get in line roughly 20-30 minutes after you for the next character. I've done it and speaking to other locals in line they've done it too.

There was one local who lived behind WDW who comes to SWW every year; she had a stroller with 11 Star Wars costumes in it. We were in Chewy's line, and her son was wearing the costume of Chewbacca. She had 2 heads in the stroller ready to go. If Chewy was up then she had Chewy's head for her son. If it was going to be an Ewok, then she had an Ewok's head ready to go. About 8 families behind her was the aunt also in line. They had their system down. :thumbsup2

I can't remember if this was the same kid while we were in line for the VIP's. But I have to post this because the costume was just fantastic. Wish I took the one when he was wearing the Chewbacca/Ewok furry costume. I thought having the heads of Chewbacca and the Ewok to exchange was ingenious.

I have some M&G questions:

1. Does Han still meet?
2. Can someone rank the character popularity from high to low?

1.- No he doesn't. He did make an appearance at a special after hours party 2 years back. It was called Last Tour to Endor before they closed ST for the refurb. He appeared in Hoopla.
2.- Here's what I think people wanting to meet characters should do:
Fab 4 and R2MK-By GMR
Chewbacca- By ST
Darth Vader-By Backlot
Darth Maul- By Backlot
Bobba and Jango Fett- By Backlot
Clone Wars characters (rotate Ahsoka-Asajj-Comm. Cody, Cap. Rex) By Mamma Melrose
Jedi Council (rotate Anakin, Kitt Fisto, Mace Windu, Shaak Ti) by Mama Melrose
Queen Amidala - By Sounds Dangerous
Luke, Leia, C3PO and R2D2 rotate in the merch. tent
I put Darth Vader 3rd because his line is under a roof the first one is completely exposed to the sun and the second one has some shades from the trees by ST.
The Fab 4 are always the more popular because even if people don't know SW they know Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy and there's no other place to meet them in the park (other than Sorcerer Mickey inside Animation bldg.)

Last year we went the 2nd weekend and the line for Darth was ridiculously long. All the husbands in our group wanted a group pic with him so we all waited. I'd say from when we got in line, and with Darth taking a few breaks, by the time we got to him it was over an hour later, maybe closer to 90 minutes. But the guys got their pic and the wives got a Charlie's Angel style pic with Darth. Very cool.

Thanks. I wonder why he's not meeting anymore. Oh, and since you know about the R2D2 bucket, will it be the cup or popcorn bucket, and does it count for popcorn and drink refills?

Traffic will be stout. Just check out the lines for parking

There will be buckets and cups again. I don't know about refills.

I searched yesterday as well and nothing. Basically they give all the kids 2 lightsabers one green and one red. Then they get asked questions and have to wait for a lightsaber sound to raise the right answer. Whoever doesn't answer correctly gets to join a SW character at the back of the stage (last year it was Luke and C3PO) Then at the end when there are only a couple of kids left, they call everyone back to the front and ask a finalq uestion which is really easy . All the kids get it correctly and get a prize.

Thanks! That's helpful. I think we'll try it if we can manage to sign up. :)

Does anyone have a link to a video of the Padawan Mind Challenge? Or even a series of photos?
I've searched youtube and have come up empty. Just wanted to get a idea of whether my ds would like it. Thanks!!

OK, I have the worlds slowest connection to youtube so it took me 9hrs to get this video to upload (which is why I've never uploaded it before! LOL) but here is a padawan mind challenge from last year. I can cross this off my list finally!! (seriously, upload this video has been on my to-do list for nearly a year! )

Pic of one I saw during last year's SWW. They seemed to be pretty popular.

As for the PMC, I figured Mary (Delmar411) would come to the rescue and post some pics. Glad she's posted a video. Kewl! :goodvibes

sam gordon, had to LOL over the "Isn't he a little short..." comment. Didn't even see that one coming!

Thank you for that! Like the others, I haven't been able to find photos or video either, so this is amazingly helpful.

I'll have DS watch it with me and see what he thinks. I guess my younger DS could do it, too (he'll have recently turned 5) since it's just a matter of raising your lightsaber.

Do I recall reading that they get some type of small prize when they get off stage?

Great! Thanks for letting us know...I will definitely check it out! DS#1 loves MadLibs (and usually ends up making them Star Wars -related without them initially being so:hyper: ) but those would be fantastic for our long drive/down time!

If the park is opening at 8, but the characters won't be out until after 9.....what time does the merchandise tent and other stores open? Trying to figure out if I can do my must do LE shopping first thing, and let the girl browse later when we need an AC break.

Pretty sure the tent opens with the park.

600th post! Wow, this looks REALLY easy. Didn't get a single answer wrong. Again, these are the films (not a CW fan). Anyone know what action figures they give out at here and JTA?

I have news on the R2-D2 Mug! Here's where you can get it:

1. A chocolate milkshake at Min & Bill's
2. A Frozen Carbonated Beverage at Peevy's Polar Pipeline
