SWW newbie here...I need to understand celebrity autograph FP's a little better, so I'm looking forward to all of you experts enlightening me!
Not sure that I've grasped the finest details...
If we arrive at 5 a.m. (or thereabouts) to get a FP for Ray Park, what is the best strategy if DS wants to meet (most to least) in this order: Dee Bradley Baker, Ray Park, James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein?
DH would likely only care about Ray Park and I would like to meet Ashley - not necessarily important that we all get a pic with one of them together. I think there will be plenty of opportunity for that at the non-celebrity ones.
I understand there are bands, but say we each stand in line for a different one...can we then interchange the FP's if one of us changes our mind? (are the FP's linked with the bands?)
Also, timing-wise when do they start handing the FP's out? Just trying to determine when the two-hour wait for a second FP might end.
TIA for your responses (can't promise I won't have follow-up questions, though!)
Celebrity Fastpass 101
If it's anything like last year you'll be able to get at least one celebrity per person. Perhaps a standby if you wait the prerequisite 2 hrs before obtaining another fast pass and are lucky there are fast passes still available. Your signature assumes there will be 3 of you.
In our case we're a family of four; I and a child was in one line for a celebrity, DH and our other child were in another line. Our kids saw 2 celebrities. My DH and I forfeited our wristbands (slipped them off) and slipped them onto our kids, so the pics were our two kids with 2 celebrities.
If each of you want to see a celebrity and your son is mature enough to stand in line by himself, you could all 3 be in 3 different lines and have 3 different celebrities.
That's for just one SWW day. If you plan more days at SWW you up the ability to get more celebrity meet and greets.
The longest line(most in demand) will be Ray Park, followed by Dee Bradley Baker then the hosts James Taylor and Ashley Eckstein.
The wristbands were placed on the person as a deterrent to those who would join the line later. For instance, one person would sleep overnight and be at the front of the line, then come the next day 20 of the person's closest friends would join him, pushing everyone else back. Fast Passes are limited. So now 20 people who were in line now before those friends showed up may not get a fast pass at all.
Now the wrist bands are placed, say 5-ish AM. Then as the time to get fast passes drew near, only those in line should be wearing wristbands.
Wristbands are also color coordinated, maybe green for Ray Park, yellow for Dee Bradley, so on and so forth.
Finally, you have to be wearing your wristband and have your fast pass in your hand (which designates the time slot you're given) to enter the celebrity's queue area.
Fast Passes will already be made ahead of time and stacked in the CM's hand. So you'll have to check the corner of the fast pass for when it was pulled and just count 2 hrs later for when to get the next fast pass.
I don't remember when fast passes were given out. Once the line starts moving, then it literally becomes "the bull run". And I haven't bothered with trying for more fast passes after this newest method so I haven't checked when they were first pulled.
