Does anyone know how big of a deal Star Wars Weekend is (especially the first weekend). I am not a Star Wars fan, so should I avoid MGM Fri-Sun of Star Wars Weekend? Thanks!

Much like you, I'm not much of a Star Wars fan at all. I have heard time and again to absolutely avoid MGM during those weekend dates and that is exactly what I plan on doing.

The place gets swapped with Star Wars fans, some dressed in costume. Given Star Wards III is also about to be released it should be even worse. I was there in 2003 by accident during the festival. My Family are not big Star Wars fans, but found it fun anyway. My 8 year old Son got to fight Darth Vader during Jedi training.

We were there last year during one of the Star Wars weekends (although not the first weekend). Our original plan was to avoid it, but it was the only day of the whole week we could get the Fantasmic Dinner Package. It actually wasn't bad at all for the rides/attractions themselves because, I guess, everyone was doing the Star Wars activities :confused3 .

Although there's lots of Star Wars fans at the park, they're all around Star Tours. You can see the other attractions with probably the same wait as you'd encounter if you went on a non-SWW day.
