Star Wars Weekend 2016??

I really wish I knew if SWW will happen in 2016, I can tell you that it's being rumored that it won't happen at all :(
The only thing that I can think of is writing an email to WDW guest relations and asking directly there, I sent my email and waiting on a response, if plenty of people send emails they'll be compelled to announce if it's happening or not.

Ok, so with the WONDERFUL announcements yesterday, anyone have any insider information about the Season of Force? The Travel Agent calendars don't show F! at all for Feb or March....so wondering if SoF will take place then.....and nail-bitingly worried that SWW may not happen in 2016. @yulilin3 any wisdom to share?

I think the F! thing is a glitch. They didn't mention doing any SW show, and F! still runs during SWW. They recently had an issue where TSMM FP+ weren't showing up for the last half of October, then all of a sudden they showed up. The Disney calendars can be notoriously buggy this far out.

However, I too am concerned that SWW won't happen. Someone on another thread theorized that SOF would start in March or April and run through the normal SWW time. Maybe they would only do the autographs and SW show during the SWW time frame, but do the fireworks and M&Gs during the entire SOF. I don't think anyone, including Disney really knows yet. However, if they are going to do the shows and autographs early, starting with SOF, then they will have to get on the ball. So hopefully, we will find out something soon. Also, I hope they are not getting rid of the autographs and shows. I think their comments make it seem like the M&Gs, fireworks, and special meals are safe though. However, the autographs and shows are what will keep SW fans coming back. If they are smart, they will continue to do them, even after Star Wars Land is built. It's what SW fans expect and are used to, unlike the other kind of guests that attend WDW.

Email sent... I would be so upset if they cancelled this year. We were planning two weekends this year!

Us too. This would actually be our first time. I don't think we could go if they move it up into Spring or even late Winter.

I know how many of Disers are interested and excited about it. yulilin3 is best source of information on it in my opinion. Started a thread last year that exceeded 250 page limit. Was a great tool for many and had no problems with thread. Which I gave exception to continue past 250 page limit. Because of polite request by yulilin3 and because prevented 7 or 8 threads on same subject. So I would say if yulilin3 hears any verifiable information on it,will post ASAP. Thanks Danny

I guess I read yesterday's announcements differently.....they talked about SoF, but they never once mentioned M&G.....and given the problems lately with the M&G lines and such, and I have to figure that it's not cheap to have those stars appearing....I am worried they are giving up the M&G expense and going for what could be a very watered down SWW and renaming it SoF. For WDW, they really only talk about fireworks and food.....no M&G, no Mall, no wandering characters. Love fireworks and fun-themed food, but honestly, if that's all, it is not worth the expense for my family to go cross country for fireworks and food. Disneyland seems to be getting more with "Special entertainment" and of course the redo of Space Mountain.

And, let's not forget that the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert party was just under $30......they ended that, added a tablecloth and latern to the table, renamed it and nearly doubled the price.

Please, please, do not let SoF become the watered down (and potentially extra charge party) that once was SWW.

I sent my email.

That was my first thought when I heard Season of the Force coming, "oh no that means no Star Wars Weekends." :( The announcement of the land is wonderful but we all love the shows, parade and celebrity signings too.

Does it matter than SWW is still on the website as coming summer 2016?

I seriously don't think that SWW will be cancelled. If you listen t the announcement it says that "building on" the success of SWW, so I believe it's just something to add right after episode VII comes out, in the slower months, in a park that will have very little appeal otherwise.

I think I read the word "characters" somewhere. It could have heard it in the video of the D23 presentation. There's a lot of confusion. I didn't even think about SWW being cancelled or changing when I first heard about SOF, until someone mentioned it. I think we will just have to wait a bit. People have asked on the Disney Parks Blog, but they never really answered the question, which makes me uneasy. But I am going to hope for the best for now.

EDIT: By M&G, I was referring to the characters in costume, not the actual actors. I considered those to be the autograph sessions, since most of them did sign.

That was my original though too, until others got me worried:worried: Hopefully, we will hear something soon.

I don't think it will be "cancelled" either but it sounds like they're going to make it like the Frozen Summer event. Where the park becomes Star Wars themed for possibly the spring months. The question is does James Arnold Taylor keep doing the weekend shows with the guests or do they just phase that aspect out in lieu of more general themed events with actors/characters for the new movie they probably have appearances already contracted for?

I really hope they don't cancel! We just booked our trip for May and DH & DS were going to attend their first SWW while the girls got an extra MK day. I'll be watching for the new thread next month.
