Star Wars themed lands announced for DL and DHS

I wonder if they will do something different with the fireworks with this expansion. It sure would suck if they had to close Star Wars land early every night so the fireworks could shoot off.

Construction on Star Wars Land will start late 2017.

CarsLand took 3 years from the date it broke ground in 2009 to opening in 2012. So I expect Star Wars Land to open 2020 - 2021.

Now it sounds like the talk at the Expo is heading into Marvel territory. What's coming next?

And the info keeps coming - "Guests at Epcot in Florida and Disney California Adventure in California will journey to far-flung lands, fly above some of the world’s most unique natural landscapes and soar over man-made wonders when the new Soarin’ Around the World makes its debut next year"

Toontown is a disaster. It only has one real ride left, plus one off the shelf kiddie coaster. They closed goofy's bounce house, they shut down the trolley, they removed the play elements from Donald's boat and
chip and Dale's tree house so that they are static displays. There's no real restaurant, just carts and one poor counter service, and the whole place is just a cement heat dump. Mickey and Minnie's houses are well done, but their footprint is small and they could easily be moved to the space next to Casey Junior or the motor boat area. I' miss roger rabbit but it's based on a movie that never became a franchise, and who knows? being way off to the side of the effected area they may be able to keep it and glom it on to FL. I wonder what will happen with the railroad- are they going to leave it there or reroute italong the new park edge?

All of this news is a lot to process! :lmao: As soon as I am digesting the info about what we're getting at DLR, then I have to stop and say, "Wait, WDW is getting that and that and that and we're not?" :lmao:

I'm surprised there has not been an announcement (yet) about a Marvel Land in DCA. There's still 10 minutes left of the presentation at the Expo.

A Toy Story Land would be a suitable alternative for kids to release the energy and run around! ;)

No Marvel Land announcement. The presentation is over.

So, I wonder if Marvel (rides) will just be wedged into Tomorrowland when all traces of Star Wars are gone from that land. Star Wars can't possibly remain a dominant force in Tomorrowland and get its own land too, can it?

Also, I am happy for the new Soarin' film/ride, but I will miss the California version.

Tom Sawyers Island is a great place for kids to run around and lose that energy

The problem with Tom Sayers island is its not good for young kids. It's great for the over six set, but younger than that not so much. However it is a good idea that they could add to Tom Sawyers island to make an a re for the younger kids.

I agree I'm kind of sad that Walt Disney World is getting Toy Story Land! I think that looks so awesome and a great place for littles to let energy out ;)

New Soarin'?

You rock Sherry! Thanks for all of the real time updates! You're right, it is a lot to process. Star Wars Launch Bay (this is going into Innoventions, right?) will at least provide some SW flavor this year with the release of TFA. Very mixed emotions about having SW Land within Disneyland itself, but I just love the idea of having an actual SW Land. One thing is for certain...DHS in WDW is going to be jammed packed when all of these projects are complete, and DLR even moreso than it is now. But if it spreads the crowds out by taking folks into a space that currently doesn't attract a lot numbers, so be it (my family enjoys Toontown and will be sad to lose Mickey and Minnie's house though).
