Star Wars Premier on Disney Cruise?

With Disney announcing the release date for episode 8, and seeing as it'll be on my wedding anniversary, I'm tempted to book a cruise during that time and would hope to see the movie when it releases at midnight.

But I'd heard that episode 7 didn't start showing on the ships until the Star Wars day at Sea started? Is there anyone that can confirm this who may have been on the ships while it came out last month?

Thank you so much for your help ahead of time :)

No, the actual movie premEared at Sea on the day that it opened on land. There were Star Wars themed cruises after that, but the movie had already been shown onboard all the ships by then.

They actually had shows at 7PM and 10PM on the day before (17th) the official release date (18th). Plus it ran all day on the 18th. Those cruises were not Star Wars @ Sea cruises.

Thank you so much! I was hoping that was the case! Makes me excited to hopefully book our first cruise! DH is all for it! :yay:

Not correct.

We sailed on the Dream Dec 14-18 2015. Star Wars premEared on the ship the evening of the 17th; multiple showings and both threatres (one 2D one 3D).

Thank you guys so much! Now I just need to decide which ship and itinerary when it's released :)

Disney yesterday announced its delay (originaly was supposed to be May 2017) with it now being released December 15, 2017.

I totally wasn't thinking the right release! I was thinking the itineraries not the film. Thanks for answering for me :)

We saw the movie on 12/17 and it was really fantastic! Disney always plays their first run movies out at sea!!!

What about Rogue One? That's release date is December 16th I think..... Would THAT movie be played on the Disney Cruises? Also a huge STAR WARS fan here... We are booking our first DC and we are hoping to possible see Rogue One :)

I'm sure it would since it's still considered a Disney release :)
