Here's what it says
If there’s one word you could use to describe Star Wars – from the films and the excitement that surrounds them, to the loyal fandom – that word just might be “epic.” It also describes the exciting new offerings that are heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this spring.

Today, we’re happy to share that plans are currently in the works for a new Star Wars stage show and procession, as well as a nighttime spectacular so elaborate it’s set to make Disney’s Hollywood Studios history. Like I said, epic.

The Force will officially awaken at the park April 4, with the debut of the brand new Star Wars stage show, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.” The new show will play out iconic moments from the film saga on Center Stage (in front of the Chinese Theater), and will feature appearances from Star Wars characters like Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

Also starting April 4, Captain Phasma will begin leading a platoon of First Order stormtroopers on a march from Star Wars Launch Bay to Center Stage multiple times each day.

And starting this summer, fans won’t want to miss the grand debut of a new Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.” This new nightly show is the next generation of the current Star Wars-inspired fireworks show. The show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The show will be punctuated with a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating massive lightsabers in the sky. This new show will be the most elaborate fireworks display to take place in the history of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

And don’t forget about the other recent Star Wars additions that have debuted at the park. The Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction now features new characters and planets from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film. Star Wars Launch Bay offers families an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes and more from the films, plus the chance to encounter with someone from Rebel Alliance or the Dark Side. And young Padawans can put their bravery to the test at Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, which now features the character of the Seventh Sister from the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels.

Geez, ROL and now this? The nights will continue to get better.

Summer can mean June, July, August or September....
Before they cancelled SWW, it said they were coming 'Summer 2016', when they had been historically held beginning in mid-May. I am not expecting anyone to have an actual answer to this. We'll know when we know. :)

It all depends when they get the new fireworks launch site finished.

Is it just a launch site, or also a bunker/storage area? Hopefully the build isn't too consuming, but I admit I have no idea what it entails.

I believe it is just a launch site. It shouldn't take too long but who knows with Disney.

Really hoping for the former SW weekend! We'll be there June 2-12 and one super crazy for Star Wars 2 year old and one likes star wars 5 year old!

Can't wait! Also, does anyone know how long Launch Bay will be around for? I'll be going to WDW in October and I just have to see it!

Pretty sure it will be around at least until Star Wars land opens. And Disney being the way they are... it may hang around for some time after that.

I wonder if there will be a dessert party?

I think we see this right before July 4th weekend. WDW would be smart to start on May 4th or 5th (the unofficial Star Wars Days). They won't do this because of their willingness to be slow on new things. Let me be wrong on this just once because we aren't seeing ROL until June.

I'll reserve judgment on the stage show since I can't imagine a scenario where Vader and company don't look silly. However, the fireworks sound nice. :)

The stage show opens just in time for me to catch it while I'm there in April! My brother loooves Star Wars (and has never been to WDW before!) so the more SW stuff he gets to see the more he'll love his first trip!

Too small and too close to the launch site for bunkers. The WDW Fireworks storage bunkers are out behind the new Reedy Creek Fire Station off of Floridian Way. The road known as Maple Road / Maple Loop.
