Original 'Star Wars' Episodes To Debut on DVD Next Year

Reports began circulating widely on the Internet Thursday that Lucasfilm will release the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes 4, 5, & 6) on DVD next September. At the same time, numerous websites were disclosing that they had received word from participants in a Lucasfilm conference at San Francisco's Presidio that they had been told the trailer for the latest -- and final -- episode of Star Wars will appear in theaters in January 2005, prior to a May theatrical release and a November home-video release.

:D

I can't wait to get for the DVD set for the first three films. I wonder how soon after Episode III comes out the entire six movie DVD set will come out.

Hey, Des, GREAT to see you!!!!!!! :bounce:

As the expert DIS movie aficionado here, why is it that Lucas has held off doing DVD's on those originals so long? Would it be to create an artificial pent-up demnd for them? Or is there some other, more in-depth reason??

Thanks for the heads up, hope all is going well for you guys.

YES!!!!!!!!!!

It's about darn time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (about the original 3 movies on DVD that is, couldn't care less about Episode 3). My old VHS copies are so worn out, they were from the original video release. First Valley Girl then Indiana Jones, now this!!! My DVD collection will be complete LOL.

I will hope on the YEAH bandwagon. I am looking forward to number 3. Maybe just maybe it will be a really great film. My husband will be so excited when I tell him about them coming out on DVD!!

Hopefully, they will include both versions of the movies, the original versions AND the special editions.

Sam

What's this about episode 3 being the final episode? The original conception was for a 9 episode series. Are we never going to see the final 3?

I had a feeling that Lucas was waiting until Ep III was finished and I'm glad to hear that my feeling was right.

APJ, last I heard was that Lucas decided to nix the plans for Episodes 7, 8, and 9 years ago. At least there are a ton of novels taking place in the years following ROTJ.
