Star Wars Newbie Help

I won't give an opinion on the order of the movies, as I know that can be touchy ;) I will say my DS-4 and DD-9 both love Star Wars, they have seen most of the movies but the original 3 and number 7 are by far the favorites! I have not let either see Rogue One yet, as I think it is a bit dark for them yet.
As far as things to do with the kids in DHS, both of my kids did Jedi Training and absolutely LOVED it! DS was a little nervous at first, but it helped that his sister was with him. The Stormtroopers are so much fun to interact with, I highly recommend them, even just to watch from a distance. The March of the First Order is very cool, but if either of your kids have any issue with fireworks it may be best to watch from a distance the first time. Kylo Ren is a little bit intimidating, but still very good and Chewy is AMAZING!!
We have been able to spend multiple days in DHS on our vacations because the kids (and my DH) love all of the Star Wars fun!!!

Oh, about the comics, I would say those aren't for your kids. Comics aren't really for 5 year olds anymore. The blood might be offscreen, but the violence is there. And you might get awkward questions you don't want to deal at 3.5 and 5 about same sex couples. I mean, maybe that's not a problem for you at that age, I'm just warning you.

Star Wars Rebels series is great. I've watched 2 seasons, show is only 25 minutes long, but there are like 20 of them each season. Can't remember if the characters are in the parks tho.

characters are sadly not in the park. Only time seen was during Star Wars Weekends (insert me ugly crying)

spoiler alert ;)
Also just cause you're sliced in half in the SW Universe doesn't mean you die :D

Good point, you can show him one of the bacta tank scenes from Empire Strikes Back, or ROgue One, to show him that many tings can be healed by a bacta tank dip, to lessen the traumatic effect of the intense scenes,

or robotic legs ;)

Which comic? Clone Wars, Rebels, or other??? SS doesn't bother me but extreme violence and dark subjects do.

I love this thread! My DS4 just got a light saber and rode star tours for the first time 2 weeks ago and now is all about Star Wars. Definitely trying to figure out which movies/shows are most appropriate (as we have been a purely DIS JR watcher). DH and I are casual "we have seen the movies but not much else" SW people.

Another thing to check is commonsensemedia.org orIMDB's parent guides. Just google the "movie title" and add "parent guide" to the search. A lot of strict parents will list in detail all scenes they deem inappropriate, categorized and everything, and recommended age. You can then base your decisions on your own standards off those guides.

I mean the current slate of Star Wars universe Marvel comics actively being published right now, Star Wars, Darth Vader, and Dr. Aphra. There are two psychopathic droids that talk about skinning people alive, draining their blood blood, etc.

There's nothing gory "in panel" most of the time, mostly just mentioned in passing.
